Listening to Carol's lectures is like talking to a friend, who can explain things to me in a language I can understand, not too technical, or over my head.- Alfrieda Dockery

By the end of this course, you will have the foundational knowledge to decide on the best social media platforms for you and how best to use them in a timely way. You'll learn to use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, GooglePlus, and Pinterest. Then you will also learn to curate and share content using Paperli. Finally, you will connect your social media accounts using Hootsuite so that you can easily and quickly build relationships online. You will also become more comfortable using Youtube.

Most of the videos are a bit longer, some up to 30 minutes. Many of them were originally presented as live webinars. As such, the audio quality is a bit tinny, but totally understandable. Watch the lectures one by one, or choose the ones that you need help with first. Section 1: Facebook

Facebook is probably one of the most popular social media networks and allows you to interact with friends and family and share photos, all from one location. Facebook Pages are used for businesses and brands and can access the large following that Facebook has.

These videos were originally part of a webinar series, so the upcoming topic mentioned at the end of each video may not always be the next one in your Udemy course list.

Setting Up Your Facebook Page
Section 2: GooglePlus

Updated November 2015.

GooglePlus is Google's answer to Facebook and has a number of similarities. The use of Circles makes it easy to connect and message targeted people. And the Hangout feature has become very popular, allowing an instant audience with a large number of people. It also now connects to Youtube with the Hangout Live feature so you can produce your own live show that will also be broadcast and archived on Youtube.
The audio is a bit low on this video.

At the end of the webinar we had a bit more discussion about GooglePlus, specifically Hangouts, how often to post, and organizing your circles.

Section 3: LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a business social media platform and allows you to connect with key people and influencers as you share your skills and knowledge.
I'm afraid the audio is also a bit low on this one as well.

This video covers * Your LinkedIn Profile * Sharing * Groups * Pages * Tips

Section 4: Pinterest
Pinterest is an image based social media platform and is steadily gaining in popularity, especially among women.

In this bonus video, photographer Bridget Greenwood shows how she uses her Pinterest boards.

This video discusses *Creating a Pinterest Business Account *Pinning *Interaction * Tips & Examples

Section 5: Twitter
Twitter is a social media platform that allows you to interact with people from all over the world, any time of day, all in short comments called 'tweets'.

In this video, I acted out the Twitter story that I told with slides in the previous lesson.

Imagine Twitter was a dance hall in the 1960's. This skit will explain some of the aspects of Twitter from a different perspective. Join Sally Social and Wanda Workerbee as they show you what you should and shouldn't be doing on the Twitter platform.

This video covers * Sharing Blog Posts * Curating Content * Interaction on Twitter

Section 6: Youtube

If you have a number of Youtube videos on a similar topic, you might like to create a playlist. In fact, you can add other videos you find on Youtube to your playlist and become the go-to person for that topic!

Udemy have changed their policy regarding audio lectures and you may not be able to access these audio files from the course platform itself. If that happens, please download and unzip the files in order to listen to them.

Section 7: Curating Content
04:49 is a web program that allows you to curate content from the Internet and from your Twitter following and publish it into a topic specific online newspaper or magazine. They have a free or paid version, and the paid version allows you to insert your own ads as well as creating a custom newsletter to send to your email list.

11:39 has changed their look and as a result, you might have trouble finding where the toolbars are now. This video will show you where to look.

Section 8: Organizing Your Social Media

Hootsuite is a web based application that allows you to access all of your social media platforms from one control panel. You design the columns you need and can make it as simple or as complicated as you choose.

Update: Facebook no longer allows you to add your Newsfeed to Hootsuite for a personal Facebook profile. You can only add a Facebook stream that shows the posts you yourself have added to your personal Facebook account, along with any comments for those posts.
