nmap is the number one most powerful network scanner available. With hundreds of command line options it can be overwelming to try to find the correct parameters for each and every situation.
I will NOT go through hundreds of parameters. Instead I will show you which options and parameters I use in my daily work as a networking and security consultant.
This course will contain almost zero powerpoint slides. Instead I will show you hands on how to run and use nmap.

One of the most important parts of nmap is to tell it which hosts to scan. There are many different ways to do that, and in this lecture I will give you all the details and options you have.
nmap operates in a number of phases. In this lecture I will briefly explain them. Each phase will be further explained in later lectures.
nmap by default scans a number of ports. But you can tell nmap exactly what to scan. I explain it all here.
During a scan, nmap gives almost no output. Sometimes you can believe that nmap is dead. But it isn´t. I explain it here!
After this lecture you will understand how the output looks like when the nmap scan is finished, and a few ways to adjust this output.
There are different ways to knock on a tcp door.
We will have a look at the optional scanning phase called Version Scanning.
In this lection we try out the OS Detection feature of nmap
