Welcome to the NLP Master Practitioner training. The training course was designed by Kain Ramsay using the experiences he gained from working with 500+ coaching clients over a 7-year period. In this video, Kain explains exactly how the course is structured and what you will learn throughout the 46 hours of on-demand instruction that follows.
A fundamental element of NLP that is often overlooked during practitioner training is the Present State/Desired State. When compared to our desired state, the present state is one of scarcity or lack, something that prevents us from feeling complete. The effective life is about identifying how we can advance beyond current circumstances and propel towards our ideals. This video is part 1 of 2.
To gain even more benefit from this online training experience beyond just watching the pre-recorded instructional videos, here are some of the different ways you can achieve this. Access 100's of articles, 100's more FREE video tutorials, and browse the inspiring Achology Quotes website!

In this video, we will revisit some NLP basics. We experience life via our representational system modalities. Our rational processing will play a large part in how we perceive the various events and circumstances that we encounter on a day-to-day basis. The journey of growth is about us learning from our past experiences and using these lessons to become more efficient in our futures.
So what are fully functioning people really like? It is not about achieving a particular status and then being 'done' with our growth as a human being. Instead, the fully-functioning person depicts a journey that continues throughout life as people continue to strive toward self-actualization and further personal development.
In psychology, Jean Piaget used the terms "concrete" and "abstract" to describe two different types of learning. Concrete thinking involves facts and descriptions about everyday, tangible objects, while abstract (formal operational) thinking involves a mental process. In this video, Kain describes the distinction between each of these mindsets.
It is human nature to ask questions. We're an inquisitive species who want to learn about everything that interests us. Throughout history, while many questions have been answered ... some haven't. In this video, Kain introduces several questions for your consideration.
A wise way of examining new paradigms isn't agreement or disagreement - which is often culturally debated. Instead, if we become exposed to diverse attitudes that conflict with our existing one, ours, in turn, naturally increases and expands. In this video, we discuss some of the primary reasons why some people are very quick to dismiss or reject viewpoints that differ from their own.
It's useful to note that not all people desire to change, grow and mature. In this video, Kain uses a analogy to define the four distinct attitudes people take towards personal growth and development. Our inclination to embrace new ideas (and have our outlooks enlarged) will be influenced by how open we are to contemplating truths that exist beyond our range of life experiences.
In this video, Kain offers a contemporary exploration of Benjamin Bloom's 'Taxonomy of Educational Objectives'. We begin to propel our comprehension, growth and understanding when we take a significantly more critical approach to evaluate, not just ideas, but instead, the reasons WHY we would typically be inclined to agree or disagree with them.
Self-development is a process of consciously educating yourself in many aspects of your life. It is the intentional pursuit of individual growth by developing personal skills, competencies, abilities, and knowledge to seek self-fulfilment and proactively fulfil your absolute potential. In this video, Kain examines the seven stages of personal growth that we can all pass through in life.
Personal growth is extremely important. But did you know that there are things that can hold you back without you even realizing it? In this video, Kain discusses the differentiation between having a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. He then describes seven of the most common blocks to personal development and growth. This video is part 1 of 2.

Now that you know about the common blocks that people encounter on their quest of personal development and growth, you are more equipped to spot them in your life. And as they say, forewarned is forearmed. In this dialogue, Kain and Karen discuss their experiences of 'blocks to learning' and how this has affected their (personal and professional) relationships over the years.
Humans are more than just conscious—they are also self-aware. Consciousness is the identification of one's body and environment; self-awareness is the realization of that consciousness. How we identify is determined by how aware we are. In this video, we discuss an alternative means of exploring 'identity'; a way of defining ourselves in a wholesome, uncapped and meaningful way.
The principles which legislate the foundation of NLP are known as 'The Presuppositions of NLP'. As well as a collection of practical skills, NLP is a philosophy and an attitude that is valuable when your goal is achieving distinction in whatever you do. We invite you to explore what happens in your life if you 'act as if' the following 'Presuppositions' are true. This video is part 1 of 2.

The presuppositions of NLP (NLP Presuppositions) form the bedrock for NLP in terms of sustaining healthy relationships, improving communication and growing the right mindsets for creating a personal or professional distinction. Let’s take this idea further. This video is part 1 of 2.

If we define people by their history or current life events, we cap them. The NLP Human Experiential Model allows us to influence how people evaluate their day-to-day experiences.
In this video, we discuss the NLP Human Experiential Model (Basic) followed by the more advanced model. Come prepared for a whole new outlook on human psychology and leave with a new set of tools for profound personal growth and change. This video is part 1 of 2.

Understanding the levels and stages of learning can enable you to become a better coach, parent, teacher or human in general. In this video, we discuss the levels and stages of learning we proceed through as we move from self-awareness to becoming an authority in any chosen field of expertise. It is useful to keep these stages in mind when communicating with anyone in an influential capacity.
We achieve personal transformation upon finding the freedom and autonomy to be who we really are. It is only possible for us to grow in maturity and understanding once we know what is possible for us. To achieve sustainable well-being, we must learn to satisfy our insufficiency, transformation and our growth needs. In this video, we discuss the seven levels of awareness and growth.
In this video, we offer a range of self-reflection questions that you can ask yourself to contemplate the central ideas and teachings you've uncovered throughout this section of the course so far.
Limiting beliefs are those which restrain us in some way. Just by believing them, we do not think, do or say the things that they hinder. And in doing so, we undermine the efforts of our day-to-day lives.
We all have limiting beliefs that we've learned about ourselves when we're young; beliefs are just thoughts that have been validated by someone (or something) in some way. In this video, Kain launches the topic of limiting beliefs and offers suggestions about where they might originate from.
We increase in maturity, decisiveness, integrity and strength as we grow 'up and out' of the limiting ideologies we formed about ourselves during the younger and 'less informed' years of our youth.
What is the truth? This is a tricky question to answer. It is possible to distinguish several different definitions (or approaches) of truth. In this video, we discuss different categories of truth.
A belief is an attitude that something, or that some proposition about the world is right. Humans use beliefs to justify their decision making and behaviour. Our beliefs give us a basis for our emotional maturity in life. In this video, we discuss the categories of belief: existence beliefs, association beliefs, cause and effect beliefs, prediction beliefs and meta beliefs.
In this video, Kain and Karen host a reflective dialogue regarding the various categories of belief; Karen shares her perspective on the different views she has identified in her own life and how these have impacted her personally and relationally over the last decade.
According to John Locke, all of our knowledge comes from experience. He holds that all of our knowledge is constructed from ideas (think of ideas as atomic building blocks and knowledge as the structures we create out of them). In this video, Kain interprets how all of the knowledge we possess (including our opinions and worldviews) can be accounted for through this model.
Kain and Karen host another dialogue about what it means to create modifications on the level of a belief; not through 'magic' or quick-fix techniques, but by remaining 'open to' considering new ideas.
The three levels of awareness in human consciousness (as defined by S. Freud) consist of the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. In this video, Kain discusses one of Freud's main contributions in the field of Psychoanalytic Psychology. The human mind can be likened to an iceberg; the main bulk of the mass of ice lies 'beneath the surface'.
According to Freud and his psychoanalytic theory, the ID is the primitive part of the mind that carries motivations, urges and hidden memories; the superego operates as a moral conscience. In this video, we discuss how most people naturally function from a place of selfishness, driven by selfish desires when they are not aware of their superego (their ability to self-regulate and make wiser choices).
The Critical Factor is the part of our mind that analyses, evaluates, and filters incoming thoughts and impressions. The Critical Factor is the gateway between the Conscious and the Subconscious Mind. In this video, we discuss Erickson's main ideas, looking specifically at the critical factor, and how Erickson believed it was possible to bypass this gateway to reprogram the human subconscious.
Sociocultural theory is a theory that explores the contributions that society makes to individual development. This theory stresses the interaction between people and the culture in which they live. In this video, we discuss the levels of culture that are unconsciously ingrained in us. We highlight the different aspects of our lives/cultures that influence our thinking and form the basis for our biases.
The notion of cognitive biases was introduced by Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman in 1972 and grew out of their experience of people's inability to reason intuitively. Cognitive bias is a term that refers to the systematic ways in which the context and framing of information influence individuals' decision-making. In this video, we discuss 5 types of cognitive bias'. This video is part 1 of 2.
Cognitive bias is a systematic delusion in our thinking that occurs when people interpret information in the world around them. It affects the decisions and judgments that they make. In this video, Kain and Karen hold a dialogue on how aware they both are of how cognitive bias is still at play in their lives and also through how they interact with other people.

Cognitive biases are judgments based on limited information, self-interest, overconfidence, or attachment to previous life experiences. Cognitive biases can result in perceptual blindness or distortion (seeing things that aren't there), irrationality, and making poor quality decisions. This topic makes for another honest (and interesting) discussion between Kain and Karen.
The Pygmalion effect is named after the Greek myth of Pygmalion, a sculptor who fell in love with a statue he had carved. The more we focus on something, the more real and vivid it becomes for us. We act and behave in response to who we believe that we are. Is the Pygmalion effect real? Decades of research have provided robust evidence that the answer is yes. But please, decide for yourself.
Your locus of control can have a significant impact on your life, from how you cope with pressure to your motivation to take command of your life. In many cases, having an internal locus of control can be a good thing. It means that you believe that your actions have a consequence. In this video, we discuss 'locus of control' and two attitudes we can take towards living life and making decisions.
Reasoning is something we do every day. When you make a decision, you take several ideas and turn them into reasons why you should or shouldn't choose the options you have available to you. V. Satir proposed there are multiple thinking styles, and our 'preferred' thinking style is developed early in life. In this video, we explore differences between deductive and SELF-expanded thinking. Part 1 of 2.

Satir proposed there are multiple thinking styles, and our 'preferred' thinking style is developed early in life. In this video, we explore differences between deductive and SELF-expanded thinking. Part 2 of 2.
Deductive thinking involves taking valid premises and ultimately reaching an airtight conclusion. Unlike inductive thinking, which aims to arrive at a decision that is likely or probable, deduction is all about assumptions that lead to a specific determination being reached. In this video, we discuss the deductive thinking patterns that Karen has is aware of in her life and the outcomes they produced.
Whether you realize it or not, whether you understand it or not, all ideas, worldviews, thoughts and philosophies lay siege to your mind, for better or for worse. The mind can seem like a battlefield, so how do we fight it? In this video, we discuss a strategy for effective self-management, that involves taking every thought captive - and not approving these thoughts unless they deserve to be validated!
In this lecture, Kain discusses a model pioneered by Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck, two notable thinkers in the field of Cognitive Psychology. Most people think in A to C language; believing that activating events automatically trigger emotional states. The truth is that the 'B' (belief) is what defines our emotional response. In this video, we discuss the importance of controlling (policing) our thoughts.
Self-regulation can be described in many ways. In the most basic sense, it involves managing one's behaviour, emotions, and thoughts in the pursuance of long-term goals. More precisely, emotional self-regulation refers to the capability to manage disruptive emotions and motivations. In this video, we discuss how to dissect life experiences and learn to start practising self-regulation effectively.
In this video Kain guides Karen through the framework presented in the previous video; inviting her to examine a current difficulty she is facing, they work through the framework together to provide a useful illustration of how 'Dissecting the Human Experience' can be practised with others.
Many fail to view questioning as a skill. The Socratic method asks a series of focused, open-ended questions that encourage reflection. By surfacing knowledge that was previously outside of our awareness, the process produces insightful perspectives and helps recognize positive actions. "The highest form of human excellence is to question oneself and others.”- Socrates
Socratic questioning (sometimes referred to as the Socratic method) involves a disciplined and thoughtful dialogue between two or more people. In this video, Kain leads Karen in the Socratic Questioning framework; inviting her to consider an adverse pattern of thinking that is present in her life to demonstrate how Socratic questions can be used with others.
Many of us put needless pressure and time restrictions on ourselves to act quickly or do too much. This unsettles us and sometimes prevents us from recognizing the extent of the opportunities we have. In this video, we discuss a simple NLP pattern that we can use to re-evaluate our experiences in life, which helps us break unhelpful thinking habits and replace them with new ones.
In this video Kain takes Karen through the NLP reprogramming structure presented in the previous lecture; together they tackle the same limiting thinking style that Karen shared in the last demonstration but take a different approach that follows more of a coaching style.
According to the theory of self-organization, beliefs change through a natural cycle in which the parts of a person's system which hold the existing belief in place become destabilized. It's only once we can recognize that our prevailing beliefs are not serving us that we become open to believing something new. In this video, Kain proposes how we make paradigm shifts as we mature in life.
Albert Ellis proposed that a small number of core beliefs underpin most unhelpful sensations and behaviour patterns. Ellis's '13 beliefs' are purposefully exaggerated, to highlight how people regularly adopt extreme and nonsensical perspectives. In this video, Kain presents a series of extremely limiting assumptions that keep people attached to disempowerment. This video is part 1 of 2.

As Kain explains in this video, you can use self-reflection questions to contemplate the key ideas and teachings you have uncovered during this section (and the rest of the course).
As children, we're wired to learn by watching and imitating others. First, we learn physical skills, such as walking and talking. Then we develop social skills by watching and impersonating our peers. In late childhood, we learn to adapt to our culture by observing the norms around us and try to behave in a way that is acceptable to society. In this video, we discuss the 4 stages of life and development.
Words often get in the way of creativity, so it's no surprise that the word "idea" often gets in the way of ideas. We use the word "idea" to describe thoughts and suggestions. A creative idea is something that captures people's interest and might even inspire them to take action. In this video, we discuss four different types of ideas that people can direct their energy and efforts towards meeting.
As we commit to turning our ideas into a reality, it's essential to review (on an ongoing basis) that they align with our highest sense of life vision, so we recognize we are investing into something meaningful with our lives. In this video, we discuss six useful keys to unlocking your purpose in life.
Building on the theory of Locke, we discuss the value of vision, and how ideas and vision tend to be yoked together; being the formula that has allowed people to drive humankind forward since the dawn of time. Without vision, ideas would never be realized and vice-versa. Kain offers a range of notions to get you thinking about a 'starting point' for developing driving your life vision forward.
The purpose of a vision board is to bring everything on it to life. These goals include the following areas: relationships, work and finances, home, personal growth (including spirituality, social life, education) and health. In this video, we introduce the idea of 'smart' vision boarding. Vision boarding helps us to stay focused and answerable to ourselves
Vision boards can help you create extraordinary results in your life. Vision boards are a tool commonly used by successful people because of the 'focusing' potential vision boards have. In this video, we discuss how to use vision boarding in this way for effective micromanagement - which allows us to separate down the individual components of one area in our life, work or relationships.
There are people out there who are not going to know where to go next until you show them - this is what it means to live a life of legacy. History proves that it's conceivable to transform societies traditions; people have the freedom to question and transcend rules. We can begin to change society by influencing the lives of one person at a time.
Ikigai (生き甲斐, pronounced [ikiɡai]) is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". The word refers to having a direction (or purpose) in life, which makes one's life worthwhile, and towards which an individual takes action and finds satisfaction and a sense of meaning. In this lecture, Kain presents the notion of 'Ikigai'.
In this video, Kain presents a model that enables us to appraise the congruence of our goals (or vision); Mr Robert Dilts initially proposed this model. If we are to devote the most significant years of our lives to pursuing goals, objectives (or an overarching life vision), we best make sure that they're at least congruent (and meaningful) ones!
Goal congruence can be described as the significance of a goal in consideration of the broader vision or set of purposes that it performs a role in bringing to realization. In this video, Kain offers a demonstration of how a goals congruence can be appraised through conversational means.
Egan's skilled helper is a problem management approach to helping, which provides NLP Practitioners with a structured and solution focused foundation. Coaching isn't about giving people answers; it's about preparing them to think for themselves. In this video, we explore Gerard Egan's Skilled Helper Model, which can be used to influence people in any aspect of life.
Future Pacing is a method where a client is asked to visualize themself in a future desired situation. In this video, we discuss a process that splices together perceptual positions and future pacing. This allows a person to evaluate the congruence of their goal at various points in the future. This process is helpful in enabling people to assess their goals, especially if they're in a place of indecision.
Goal congruence can be defined as the value of a goal in light of a more expansive vision (or set of purposes) that it plays a part in bringing to fulfilment. In this video, Kain demonstrates a conversational visualization process that can be used for evaluating the congruence of a goal.
Evaluation is a process that critically examines a goal. It involves gathering information about the activities that are required to bring a goal to effective fruition. In this video, Kain offers another demonstration of how a goals congruence can be evaluated through conversational means.
NLP centred coaching can generate an environment where a distinct type of dialogue can happen - one in which the motivations of the head, the heart, and the gut can be acknowledged and valued. In a goal-setting situation where a person's head/heart/gut are aligned, people can feel relaxed about sharing ideas that challenge their beliefs. In this video, we discuss the NLP head, heart, gut model.
In a goal-setting situation where a person's head/heart/gut are aligned, people will become comfortable discussing ideas that challenge their traditions. In this interesting dialogue between Kain and Karen, Kain demonstrates the NLP head, heart and gut model on Karen.
In this video, Kain outlines a sequence of self-reflection questions that you can ask yourself to contemplate the central ideas and teachings you've uncovered during this section (and the first two sections of the course so far).
There are two ways we can function in this world. We can centre around what we do, or, we can centre around who we are (our true identity). Are you a human doing or a human being? In this video, we discuss Carl Rogers' Characteristics of a fully functioning person and take a closer look at what it means to be fully alive (and fully functioning) as a human being.
There are seven choices that we can make that not only build strong character, but allow us to live in alignment with the core of who we truly are. We can make wise decisions based on our long-term objectives in life, or we can make decisions that are more about receiving instant gratification today. In this video, we discuss the choices of maturity and character that we each can make.
If we choose to live our lives according to these seven choices of maturity and character, we naturally and confidently end up leading others in the same direction. The greatest goal we can aspire to in life is to be mature, decisive, consistent, and strong. In this video, Kain and Karen host an honest dialogue about the foundations upon which they both base their decisions each day.
If we choose to live our lives according to these choices of maturity and character, we naturally and positively end up leading others in the same way. It's time to unpack these choices of maturity and character by answering the following questions;
A good moral character is a quality that embodies positive attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness. Honesty also involves being loyal, trustworthy, and sincere. We will be more empowered to make changes if we are prepared to be honest about why we do not have all the outcomes we want in life. These questions can provide an insight into your current life outcomes.
The present state/desired state model gives us the means to determine the actual obstacles in our life by first defining the current state( where you are) and then describing the desired state (where you want to go). In this video, we discuss the factors necessary for progress: acceptance of truth, faith for the ideal to happen and a compelling vision.
Acceptance (in human psychology) is a person's assent to the reality of a situation, recognizing a process or condition (often an undesired situation) without trying to change it or protest it. The concept is close in meaning to acquiescence, derived from the Latin acquiēscere (to find rest in). In this video, Kain and Karen discuss the freedom that can be found in acknowledging the truth.
Emotional stability is an excellent trait to develop. It means you can endure difficult circumstances, handle adversity, and remain fruitful and capable in the face of adversity. We can gauge the maturity of our character by how emotionally and behaviorally stable we are. In this video, we discuss three different roads we can take towards growth; we can base our responses on feelings, faith or facts.
Defence mechanisms are psychological strategies that people habitually or unconsciously deploy to protect themselves from the stress that arises from unacceptable circumstances, thoughts or social situations. In this video, we discuss Freud's Defence Mechanisms: including Denial, anger, repression, displacement, transference, reaction formation, regression, rationalization and sublimation.
Sigmund Freud (1894, 1896) noted several ego defences which he relates to throughout his recorded works. His daughter, Anna Freud (1936) further developed these ideas and elaborated on them, adding ten of her own. In this video, Kain and Karen discuss the defence mechanisms they can identify as still being present in their lives.
In this video, Kain explains the cause to effect technique, which allows NLP Master Practitioners to quickly and effectively identify the role that we're playing in any prevailing predicaments we're experiencing. A full demonstration will follow in the next lecture.
Cause-and-effect thinking, or causality, allows us to make inferences about things that happen around us. Causality helps us know something as simple as "If I don't exercise regularly, I'll become lazy and unfit." to more complex things such as other people's intentions and behaviours. In this video, Kain guides Karen through the Cause to Effect technique.
Defence mechanisms are an extreme kind of self-deception. You might employ them to hide emotional responses that you don't want to deal with yet. However, it's done mostly on an unconscious level. In this video, we discuss a range of questions you can respond to, to establish which defence mechanisms are present in your personal life.
Many of the beliefs that we've subscribed to in life, we automatically assume are true. Often we know what we believe and how these beliefs influence our behaviours. Limiting beliefs can result in us ruining our best intentions. Here, Kain reviews the Johari window, a model which allows us to investigate and better understand ourselves and our 'unknown' parts of ourselves somewhat better.
Limiting beliefs are something that can hold us back from life. Just like worry and following the path of the 'shoulds', limiting beliefs can keep us from getting to where we ultimately want to be in life. In this video, Kain demonstrates how to carry out a simple questioning process that gets to the 'heart' of limiting and self-defeating beliefs.
In this video, we discuss how memory anchors are born. Everything is an anchor to something else. We relate all people and all things to all people and all things ALL the time. We want to understand the initial cause of our emotional problems in life so that we can review the experience with a more mature set of eyes and begin to eliminate the lies that we've accepted throughout our lives.
Parental timeline questioning is a powerful method for using self-awareness in the present to outgrow limiting beliefs that we developed at some point in the past, even in very troubling circumstances. In this video, Kain demonstrates how to carry out a simple parental timeline questioning process that gets deeper into the 'heart' of limiting and self-defeating beliefs.
Timeline Reimprinting is a robust process for applying self-awareness in the present moment to relinquish limiting beliefs that we acquired at some time in the past, even in very troubling circumstances. In this video, Kain demonstrates how to carry out a simple timeline reimprinting process that gets Karen more submerged into the 'heart' of her limiting and self-defeating beliefs.
In this discussion, Karen shares some honest feedback about the timeline reimprinting process and reflects upon the insights and new realizations that she gained through the experience.
In this video, Kain shares a compelling story that ties some of the ideas in this section to a close and helps you to comprehend better where you might benefit from looking if you want to understand yourself and your potential from a new perspective
Self-awareness means knowing your values, character, habits, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Moreover, self-awareness empowers you to manage yourself better, make wiser decisions and motivate others more effectively. What are the different kinds of self-awareness? In this video, we discuss seven thought-provoking principles of self-awareness. This video is part 1 of 2.

The ability of self-reflection can serve to keep you in check, to keep you concentrated on self-improvement and also ensure that you experience fulfilment in life as you continue to develop and mature. In this video, we discuss a range of self-reflection questions that you can ask yourself to consider the main ideas and lessons you've learned throughout this section.
In this video, we discuss the domains of developmental IQ. If our personal growth and self-awareness do not equate in us regulating ourselves effectively, then we must ask what the point is. In this video, we discuss ideas of Soren Kierkegaard, exploring the question 'Who Am I'? Some people go through life trying to be someone they're not. To find fulfilment in life, we must accept who we truly are.
Living life genuinely and authentically is about being real, original and genuine to yourself. It's not doing what your parents or society wants or what you think you should do. In this video, Kain and Karen ask each other the questions outlined in the exercise from the last video.
Identity consists of the qualities that make a person (self-identity as articulated in psychology) or group (collective identity as pre-eminent in sociology). People limit themselves by over-identifying with terms that cap their potential to grow. In this video, we discuss the ways that people define their identity and ask the question - in what ways do you restrict yourself through how you identify?
Virtues are attitudes, dispositions, or character traits that enable us to be and to act in ways that increase this potential. Virtues allow us to pursue, reach and even surpass the identity 'ideals' we have adopted. In this video, we discuss a starting point for healthy and accurate self-identification.
We can become our own worst enemies by holding ourselves back, in nurturing self-doubt, in avoiding our demons or by becoming unnecessarily defensive towards life-enhancing truths. Many people define themselves by what they do and how well they perform = Human Doings! When we start defining ourselves with context for growth, i.e. by virtues, this sets us free to just do our best.
In this video, Kain asks Karen about how she defines herself on an identity level and together, they have a thought-provoking and honest discussion about what it means to define yourself in a way where you only leave yourself with unlimited context for further personal growth.
Hans Eysenck's theory of personality is based on three dimensions: introversion vs extroversion, neuroticism vs stability, and psychoticism vs socialization. This thought-provoking model implodes the notion that we do not have a choice about how we behave in life and helps us understand the scope that we have for growth in life.
Virginia Satir (Jun 1916 – Sep 1988) was an American author and therapist, known primarily for her approach to family therapy and her pioneering work in the field of family reconstruction therapy. In this video, we discuss Virginia's “four categories” of attitudes that we can take to life that are responsible for family conflict and one philosophy that can be used for resolving conflict
Our basic attitudes toward life are usually detectable in a place of self-awareness. In order to know life, you must know the truth. Each of us embarks on a journey to discover what is true. As you draw meaning from the past, you will also be able to draw meaning from the future. This video explores what it means to have (and maintain) a healthy reverence (and respect) for life.
A moment like this can never be repeated. Each second that passes is one that can never be reclaimed. As a result, we must never waste time. Some people overlook the present because they spend most of their time thinking about the future or the past. We can only control how we focus our thoughts right now. This video explores what it means to have a healthy respect for time.
Many people live without regard for life, time, other people, or even death. Death is our only certainty, along with the knowledge that someday, we will leave this earth. Death is the absence of life. Death is feared by some, while life is feared by others. Learning to live in the present allows us to appreciate it more. During this video, Kain discusses developing a healthy reverence for death.
How do you define success? Being successful is sometimes viewed as achieving a vision or achieving planned goals. Success can refer to a particular social standing that identifies an individual with a successful career and has gained recognition for its success. The dictionary defines success as "achieving wealth, prosperity, and fame". Here, Kain offers an unconventional view on the subject.
The ability of self-reflection can serve to keep you in check, to keep you concentrated on self-improvement and also ensure that you experience fulfilment in life as you continue to develop and mature. In this video, Kain outlines a range of self-reflection questions that you can ask yourself to consider the main ideas and lessons you've learned throughout this section.
A force that opposes movement in a given direction is called resistance. Resistance can be good or bad, depending on how we view it. In conflict, people may experience resistance as stubbornness by the other person. In this video, we discuss what it might look like to build conflict-resistant connections with the people in our lives.
In this video, Kain and Karen host a discussion about what it means to build conflict-resistant connections; sharing their personal experiences of how they build strong and healthy boundaries into their relationships to maintain healthy relations.
A critical aspect of communication is being a good listener. Effective communication requires active listening. Active listening involves hearing what another person is saying to you. If we want to build trust in our communications with others, we must engage in healthy communications where we prioritize understanding people. In this video, Kain discusses four categories of communication.
When people are facing a problem, we tend to jump in with advice, questions, or reassurance in order to make them feel better. Even though our motivation may be to help, sometimes our responses can create stumbling blocks that make matters worse. In this video, Kain discusses some of Thomas Gordon's ideas about common roadblocks to healthy and effective communication.
Roadblocks tend to interfere strongly with two people's ability to communicate, dialogue, listen to and fully understand each other. In this video, Kain and Karen hold an honest conversation about the roadblocks to effective communication that they've experienced and discuss what it takes to sustain healthy attachment in relationships.
Prejudice is a view that is biased or ill-informed in favor (or against) something, someone, or a group against another - usually in an unfair way. Biases can be held by a person (or group) and have negative or positive effects. Are you the type who is quick to identify similarities between others or to see differences? Kain examines the ways in which people discriminate in this video.
Someone may be confident that the sun will rise tomorrow or that the world will end. Knowing a person is knowing the 'unobservable reality' behind the words they speak and actions they take (the beliefs that motivate them). A NLP master practitioner can create a space for people to explore 'what they mean' by the labels they assign themselves, instead of discriminating against them.
In this video, Kain shows the power of focused questioning to help others make connections in their understanding of themselves and their beliefs. Demonstrating exploring belief possibility spaces.
Language is an essential part of our lives. Understanding the Language people use is crucial if we hope to grow better at understanding people. In this video, Kain considers the value in helping people to understand themselves better and provide them with 'time and space' to create new neurological connections by dissecting the language they use.
To be someone that others can rely on brings a sense of empathy, humanity, and open-mindedness; to be the person that your friends turn to when all seems lost is a mark of character. Several conditions must be in place before we can achieve good connection with people, according to Carl Rogers. In this video, we discuss these conditions and why they are relevant to our relationships.
Immediacy means feeding back to another person how we are encountering them, our thoughts and feelings, in the present moment. Immediacy is a powerful advanced communication skill. Immediacy is a communication skill that gives people insight into their physiological responses related to a topic. In this video, Kain presents three types of listening: centred, intensive and attentive.
The richness of people can be discovered when we take the time to not only hear, but to listen as well. In your role as a coach, do you need to improve your listening skills? Or do you wish to learn more about developing these skills as a leader? Throughout the video, we demonstrate immediacy and the various levels of listening as Karen describes a recent experience.
Every person has a unique communication style, a way in which they interact and exchange information with others. Learning to identify the communication styles we experience each day is a decisive step forward towards becoming a highly effective communicator. In this video, we discuss five communication styles: assertive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, submissive and manipulative.
Relationships are built on rapport. It allows you to establish relationships more quickly and improve communication more quickly. Your working relationships will be more effective as a result. We invite people to enter into dialogue with us as we create space for them to respond to our verbal and non-verbal communications. In this video, we discuss 'repeating', 'paraphrasing' and 'reflecting'.
Paraphrasing is repeating back your understanding of what another person has just communicated, using your own words and interpretation. A paraphrase reflects the essence of what has been said. In this video, Kain demonstrates repeating, paraphrasing and reflecting as he invites Karen to have a reflective conversation about her beliefs.
Clean language is a simple set of questions created by psychologist David Grove. Using these questions, a person focuses on an aspect of their own experience. Using clean, unloaded, and non-assumptious language is essential if we wish to make a real difference in the lives of others. Kain gives several examples of clean language questions in this video.
Clean Coaching is a simple yet effective form of one-to-one facilitation. Using specifically-phrased, structured coaching questions, coaches are able to remove their biased perspectives from their language, ensuring the other person's personal experience is valued. Kain demonstrates how clean language questions help others gain insights and become more specific in this video.
Our mind finds it hard to focus on the negative. We can confidently influence others by directing attention towards 'aspired outcomes' via 'positive language, rather than adverse outcomes via negative language. In this video, we discuss how NLP Masters can build their communications around positively framed goals and clean language to make people's future goals a reality today.
Using a positive frame lets us shape the world the way we want it to be. It moves us out of seeing adverse events or feelings as a permanent reality. Instead, we can see them as temporary and beatable. In other words, using a positive frame builds optimism. In this video, we discuss how to set positively framed outcomes that motivate action steps to be taken.
The term "Modal operators" are words like must, should, can't, have to, can, will and indicate possibility or necessity. There is a big difference between doing something because you ‘must’ and because you ‘want’ to. Here, we differentiate between rules and opportunity; how to identify a person's frame of reference and then guide them towards setting positive framed goals.
Cartesian questions are a way of asking questions which opens the mind to new alternatives and possibilities. Cartesian questions were formulated by René Descartes, a French philosopher and a mathematician. When you struggle to make decisions, it is a useful tool for you to rely on. In this video, Kain presents a model that will influence decisiveness and action: Cartesian Coordinates.
Cartesian coordinates serve as an invaluable process to aid your decision making or assess your next actions in any situation. In this video, Kain illustrates how to implement Cartesian Coordinates with Karen as he helps her to solidify a recent decision she has made.
As we communicate, we freely delete, distort and generalize the structure of our biased experience; this often breeds miscommunication and misinterpretation. In this video, Kain discusses the Meta Model III; a model we can use to help people move from the opportune state (present state) to resolve state (desired state) which outlines a series of self-reflection questions.
The NLP Meta Model III is a structured set of questions that reconnects the deletions, distortions and generalizations that occur in everyday language use with the experience that generated them. In this video, Kain demonstrates how simply the Meta Model III can be used to positively influence people in becoming more accurately structured in their thinking.
Value Mapping is one of the latest NLP groundbreaking processes, pioneered by Kain in 2019, it helps people to become structured in their reasoning and clear on their main life priorities. Understanding the roles that values play in our day-to-day decision-making processes is what allows an NLP master practitioner to become highly influential when aiding others to establish and prioritize goals.
Recognizing the roles that values play in our decision-making processes is what enables an NLP master practitioner to become deeply instrumental when supporting others to set and prioritize their goals. In this video, Kain leads Karen through Values Mapping, to help her become clear on the values she is currently prioritizing and the life changes she aspires to make. This video is part 1 of 2.

In this video, Kain offers insight into a more advanced version of this model that was introduced almost 20 years after Maslow's initial model became popular and culturally accepted as valid.

Here, Kain addresses some of today's most prevailing cultural mindsets, and how these mindsets can generate the results many people produce with their lives - for better or for worse.

In this video, Kain discusses the domains of social influence and how we can promote change in our hometowns and nations.
What the entrepreneur's journey to success actually looks like is clouded by a lot of myths and hype. Retirement isn't for entrepreneurs. Creating a better tomorrow is their goal. Typically, the main objective of an entrepreneur is not to make money, but rather to build a financially sustainable business model that solves a problem of some kind. Does that describe you?
Integrity and authenticity are congruent concepts. It will be easier to establish rapport with a coach that has a congruent approach. Congruent coaches will have a style, approach, and personality that align with their ethos and values. The only way we can coach someone is with the experience we have. Throughout his career building successful businesses, Kain discusses his key learnings.
Change management is not as easy as it sounds because it means going outside people's comfort zones and asking them to do things differently. In this video, Kain describes the circumstances that lead to people's growth and how change takes place in their lives. Knowing this helps us identify those who are actively engaged in the process of growth.
As an NLP Master Practitioner, your role is to help people see the obstacles they are placing in the way of their progress and then ask them what actions they might take to move forward. Remember the definition of a leader: a person who inspires others to do or function at their very best! Focus on that, and you WILL become your very best! In this video, Kain discusses coaching for influence.
The Eisenhower Decision Matrix is a powerful tool for time management. It helps us to prioritize your tasks based on urgency and importance while sorting out less urgent and less critical tasks. In this video, we discuss the Eisenhower Matrix, a framework we can use to raise our productivity levels. We can use this every day to evaluate the importance and urgency of the items on our to-do list.
If we want to influence others, we must know how to present ideas well. To say the least, it can be challenging to hold an audience's attention, let alone communicate your message well when presenting. In this video, Kain discusses how to deliver presentations using the 'Hook, Book, Look and Took' model which he has used to teach 650,000+ people worldwide. This video is part 1 of 2.

In this video, Kain discusses how the Business Model Canvas can be used to bring structure into our brainstorming if we're looking to set up or build a new NLP or coaching orientated business.
A product offering is a combination of product features that work together to deliver a specific value proposition for an end consumer. That offering can be named, marketed, priced (differently), sold and serviced. In this video, we discuss how to connect with different people via different product offerings: one-to-one plans, small group plans, business executive plans and live training event plans.
Niching doesn't require you to change or eliminate anything that you're doing and isn't a restriction or limitation.
