Section 1: Introduction
01:23

Want to know who you'll be learning from? Come meet Trisha Bartle, the course instructor for Nail Art for Beginners! Learn about her critically acclaimed beauty blog and her love of nail art.

02:13

In this lecture, I'll tell you a bit about how the Nail Art for Beginners course works. I'll also explain the different sections and a suggestion on how you might want to work through the material.

01:01

Are you unsure about whether this course is right for you? Then watch this video first! I'll describe the types of students that will benefit from the Nail Art for Beginners online course.

01:43

You're probably wondering what you need for this course. After all, this is a nail art course. Luckily, many of the tutorials only use nail polish. With others, I give a detailed list of what you need both at the beginning of the video and in the lecture description for each tutorial.

But, here are some of the things you might need if you intend to follow along with every video:

  • Nail polish of various colors.
  • A clear base and top coat.
  • A matte top coat.
  • Nail art Pens.
  • Loose nail glitter.
  • Nail stickers, jewels, nail striping tape and other applique.
  • A dotting tool. (Or toothpick.)
  • Common household tools including clear tape, scissors and paper.

Don't worry, you won't need all of this right from the start.

Not sure where to get everything? Most American drug stores have a nail art section where all of this can be found. Amazon and other online stores also carry nail art supplies for very reasonable prices.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

Section 2: 2 Ways to Do a Great French Manicure
Article

After this lecture, there are two French manicure tutorials. This lecture will help you decide which one to try first!

06:29

Have you ever wanted to do your own French manicure? Well, you can! In this nail art tutorial, you're going to learn the freehand method for French manicures. This method is a little bit difficult, but I promise that you'll get better with practice.

In this freestyle French manicure nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Beige color: Essie Nail Polish in A Crewed Interest
  • White color: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Snow Me White

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

06:12

If you want a French manicure but don't want to start with the freehand method, you could always use nail art pens to get this design! This nail art technique is especially good for those who have always been good at coloring between the lines.

In this French manicure nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Orange polish: Butter London Nail Polish in Silly Billy
  • Black nail art pen: Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen in Round Black

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

Section 3: All That Glitters: Nail Art Designs Using Sparkles!
05:18

While you could just paint your nails with glitter nail polish and call it a day, there are ways to use these polishes that turn a regular manicure into something special. For today's out-of-this-world manicure, you're going to be creating a glitter gradient reminiscent of the night's sky.

In the From Outer Space nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Dark blue polish: Butter London Nail Polish in Big Smoke
  • Dense glitter polish: Pixi Nail Polish in Gold Glimmer
  • Less dense glitter polish: Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots Nail Polish in Clearly Spotted

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

07:23

Regular sparkles are great, right? But what if you want the most sparkly manicure you've ever seen? In that case, you'll want to use loose nail glitter. Unlike glitter nail polish, loose glitter isn't sticky, and will need a bit of assistance. Luckily, this nail art tutorial will teach you everything you need to master this often messy nail product.

In the Layered Sparkles with Loose Nail Glitter nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Three shades of loose nail glitter (You can find these in the nail art section of the drugstore or online)
  • One or two sheets of paper.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

05:09

Today, you're going to learn a quick way to create an interesting manicure with nail caviar. Nail caviar are small, colorful beads. They are loose, which means they don't have any stickiness to them to help them stay on your nail. But, with this tutorial, that's won't be a problem!

In this tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Red nail polish: Wet N Wild Megalast Nail Polish in I Red a Good Book
  • Gold nail caviar (You can find this in the nail art section of drugstores or online)
  • A piece of paper.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

04:40

Removing glitter nail polish is the worst. If you try to remove it the way you would a regular nail polish, you'll find that it takes you a lot longer. Luckily, I'm here to teach you an easier way for removing the glitter. No more stress for you!

In this tutorial, I used:

  • Nail polish remover (the kind with acetone works best)
  • 10 cotton squares (or cotton balls)
  • Aluminum foil
  • Scissors
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.
Section 4: Nail Stickers, Polka Dots and Stripes, Oh My!
02:26

Sometimes you already have a manicure ready to go, but you want to do something extra to make it look fancy. Today, I'm showing you how to use nail art stickers to do just that. They can go on your already existing manicures for a cool new design. They're also super quick!

In this nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Nail art stickers (you can find these in the nail art section of the drugstore or online)
  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.
05:23

In order to teach you the basics of polka dots, I thought I'd bring in some red and black for lady bug nails! In this nail art design, you'll learn all about the dotting tool. In the end, you'll end up with a super cute lady bug design.

In the Lady Bug Polka Dots nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Red nail polish: Wet N Wild Megalast Nail Polish in I Red a Good Book
  • Black nail polish: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Black on Black
  • A dotting tool (You can find these in the nail art section of the drug store or online. If you don't have one, you can use a toothpick!)
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.
06:20

For this lecture, you're going to learn how to make a crisp, straight line between two colors of nail polish. To do this, we're going to use Tiffany blue and dusty brown shades of nail polish for Mod Color Blocking nail art. As always, you can use whatever colors strike your fancy.

In the Mod Color Blocking nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Tiffany blue nail polish: Wet N Wild Megalast Nail Polish in Refresh-Mint
  • Dusty brown nail polish: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Nirvana
  • Clear tape

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

08:03

Why do I call this nail art design, "The Sophisticate?" To me, it just looks like the epitome of sophistication. In today's nail art tutorial, you'll come away with a manicure that features shiny chrome, velvety black and sparkly jewels. Yep, this one's super pretty.

In the Sophisticate nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Chrome nail polish: Butter London Nail Polish in Bobby Dazzler
  • Black nail polish: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Black on Black
  • Clear matte top coat: Butter London Matte Finish
  • Clear tape
  • Self-adhesive nail jewels (you can find these in the nail art section of the drug store or online)
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.
08:46

At first glance, this nail art tutorial may seem a bit complicated. After all, it uses 6 different nail polishes, not including the base and top coat. It also uses nail striping tape. But, as you'll see in the video, it's a lot easier than you think. In the end, you'll have an impressive geometric design with a rainbow of colors.

In the Art Deco Neon Stripes nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base and top coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Purple nail polish: Wet N Wild Megalast Nail Polish in Through the Grapevine
  • Hot pink nail polish: Pixi Nail Polish in Paradise Pink
  • Orange nail polish: Butter London Nail Polish in Silly Billy
  • Yellow nail polish: Butter London Nail Polish in Pimms
  • Neon green nail polish: Pop Beauty Nail Glam in Radioactive
  • Gold nail polish: Wet N Wild Fergie Nail Color in Gold Album
  • Nail striping tape (you can find this in the nail art section of drug stores or online)

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.

Section 5: Seasonal Nail Art
04:51

It's almost Halloween! If you're wanting to rock some adorable Halloween nail art, then this lecture is right for you. Rather than something spooky, I'll be showing you how to do cute Jack o' Lantern nail art. I promise you'll get tons of compliments.

In the Jack o' Lanterns Halloween nail art tutorial, I used:

  • Clear base coat: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Clear Coat
  • Black nail polish: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Black on Black
  • Orange nail polish: Butter London Nail Polish in Silly Billy
  • Black nail art pen: Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen in Round Black
  • Clear matte top coat: Butter London Matte Finish
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the discussion section of this tutorial.
