This video shows you how to create a Minecraft skin on a PC. A skin is the physical appearance of your character in Minecraft. This video tutorial gives you step–by–step instruction on how to create all the limbs and clothes on a custom skin for a default Minecraft character. The two default characters in Minecraft are Alex and Steve.
You'll discover how to download a skin template for either Alex or Steve from Minecraft.net. A skin template is a two–dimensional replica of a three-dimensional character. You'll then open the template in a painting program. (Microsoft Paint is a paint program that comes free with many PCs, but it doesn't allow you to use transparency in your skin. If you want to create a skin with transparent pixels, this video recommends free software that allows you to do that.)
You'll also find out how to modify your inner skin, such as your character's arms, legs, and head, and outer skin, such as clothing and helmets. This video shows how the different parts of the skin map to the parts of your Minecraft figure. After you finish customizing the skin, you'll see how to save it to your computer and upload it to Minecraft.net.
This video shows you how to build a house quickly in Minecraft, whether the building you construct is as simple as a shack or more complicated, like a larger house with multiple rooms. The step–by–step instruction covers choosing the right location and building materials, assembling the framework of your house, and adding doors and decorative features to complete your house-building — fast and efficiently.
Building first in an open, level landscape, the video demonstrates construction of a one–room rectangular house made of wood. Materials may be stacked horizontally or vertically to erect outside walls, leaving a space for at least one door. Additional elements, such as a roof or furnishings, can be added after the framework's in place.
A second example presents steps to erecting a larger Minecraft house: a two–room design on ground that has to be cleared before building begins. Chopped-down trees become building materials, with wooden logs and planks forming the outline of the structure. Pillars can help form a wireframe to allow addition of other materials later.
Both quick and easy Minecraft construction projects include tips on how to avoid falling off your structure during the building process. With the basics in mind, you can progress to more complicated homebuilding, with variations in materials and locations.
This video shows you how to gain experience orbs quickly and "level up" in Minecraft. Gaining experience is important, because you can spend experience points to enchant and repair items, which allows you to improve your weapons and advance in the game.
The video covers different methods to generate experience points, including smelting gold, breeding animals, and fishing. Some actions, such as mining coal, don't grant any experience at all. The most common way to build experience points is by defeating "mobs," which are living creatures within the game. Killing the Ender Dragon enables a player to advance many levels, with the most experience points granted at one time.
You'll also see how you can pick up experience orbs by tossing the Bottle O' Enchanting, which releases a potion of points for you wherever it lands. The tips from this video can help you grow your Minecraft experience bar quickly and easily, as you work toward higher levels of playing.
Creating a crafting table is crucial to surviving your first night in Minecraft. This video will show you how to quickly create a crafting table and storage chest so that you have a grid large enough to craft the additional items you will need to survive in Minecraft.
The inventory is where gathered materials are stored for use in crafting items. The inventory slots consist of four rows of squares at the bottom of the screen. This video will show you how to move items around in the inventory. You'll learn how to pick up half of a group of objects at the same time. You will discover how to use this same technique to split groups of objects into smaller amounts, or separate a group of items into individual components for easier crafting. Other techniques covered in the video include moving an entire stack of items from the inventory to the storage chest, using the number keys on your keyboard to move items into the hotbar of your inventory, quickly moving multiples of the same item from the inventory to the chest, and using commands to drop and distribute stacks of items. A few commands only available to players in Creative Mode are also covered in this video.
