Wellness Eye Care

A bit of background on myself – I am Dr. Diane Prather. My formal education and training degrees are O.D. for Doctor of Optometry and M.P.H. for Masters in Public Health. I began exploring health care while growing up in Wisconsin and working with my Father in his large animal veterinary medical practice. Veterinary medicine in some ways has been a leader in preventive health care. You see, farm animals do not have health insurance, their owners are interested in keeping them growing well and staying healthy with minimal cost. For example, newborn calves were sure to get their colostrum. And animals didn't stay up late watching TV or reading email!

I finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas with majors in Pre-Optometry and Psychology, my Doctor of Optometry at University of Houston -College of Optometry and my Masters in Public Health at the University of Texas -School of Public Health. I taught at the University of Houston -College of Optometry in the Community Health tract as well as was in private practice in the Houston, Texas area. While in private practice, I did an Ayurvedic Physician Training for Health Professionals through Maharishi International University. After competing the Ayurvedic training, I recognized the need to share this wellness information and became a co-owner of an Ayurvedic and yoga Wellness Center when I taught yoga and Ayurveda health care.
