Instructor Biography

Richard Robinson, Artist and Teacher

I've been drawing and painting all my life. I trained as a graphic designer, majoring in illustration and worked in that industry for several years, painting in my spare time all the while.

In 2001 I took the leap to full time painting and since then have held many successful one man and group exhibitions all around the world and I'm represented by galleries in New Zealand and Hawaii.

Meanwhile I began teaching painting in my spare time to young and old alike, in night classes and eventually in painting workshops all around the world.

At the same time I began creating video painting lessons and these became more and more popular and now I have over 20 painting dvds to my name, a client list of over 50,000 students and several million youtube viewers. So, that worked well!

I continue to endeavour to improve my paintings and my outdoor lessons and video lessons and live a pretty ideal existence with my family beside the beach in the small village of Ruakaka in Northland, New Zealand. I feel very blessed and am happy to be able to share my learning and passion for painting with so many people around the world.
