Emotions are a vast area of learning and emotions have the UNIQUE power to shift how you show up in all of your interactions, situations, events and conversations in your life. When you learn to harness the power of emotions, you can CHOOSE how to show up in conversations and learn to declare satisfaction and happiness in your life!
Use the generative power of language and work with your emotions to help you declare satisfaction and happiness with the outcomes and results of your interactions in life.
Discover a 3-Step Framework of working with the whole human being you are by exploring the connections between Body, Emotions and Language!
I want to offer you a framework, a new perspective of the holistic and integrated human being that you are! This perspective may help to incorporate several concepts that you have come across in your quest for personal transformation and development.
The underlying concept is that of language and the resultant, subjective expression of emotions and movement; movement through actions, movement through thoughts and ideas.
Course Contents And Overview
This course contains 63+ lectures and 4+ hours of content! It is designed for you if you want to take control of your emotions in your life. It is designed for you if you want to move past potentially “destructive” emotions and learn to declare satisfaction and happiness in your life.
The material in this course is what I use with my coaching clients so if you are curious about learning to coach yourself from observing your thoughts, ideas and body while exploring emotions, this course is for you!
I strongly believe in 3 key ideas: #1) Education - learn about what matters to you; #2) Coaching - practice and embody that learning; and #3) Leadership - show up "fully and in presence" with others.
Every section in this course is connected and invites you to embody the learning. Each section has some “Action Steps” or “Activity” to help you notice what shows up for you as you to interpret and get to the story of the emotions that you experience.
The more you can practice and apply what you learn in the sections determines the results you'll get.
Section #1 – “Welcome To The Course” – Quickly get started in this section with this short introduction to “Emotional Intelligence And Emotional Mastery” and the two foundational models of the O-A-R and the B-E-L. You are the unique observer of your life. And the unique observer you are has a Body, experiences Emotions and interprets those emotions in Language. There is also an invitation to join the private Facebook group called, “Life Coaching And Vedic Counseling”.
Section #2 – “Before You Begin - A Brief Introduction To Emotions” – Emotions have been studied for as long as humans have been alive. It wasn’t until about 1649 and Descartes’, “Les Passions des l’Ame” that emotions have been reduced and classified into “basic” emotions. Other psychological studies include Dr. Paul Ekman’s “6 Basic Emotions” and Dr. Robert Plutchik’s “Wheel Of Emotions.” Learn to distinguish between what it means to “have emotions” versus “being emotional.” This skill is crucial for developing your emotional intelligence.
Section #3 – “Getting To Know Yourself - Part 1 - Your Emotional Inheritances” – The bulk of the worksheets and self-reflection exercises are in this section. This is where you are invited to spend as much time as possible to understand what makes up that “framework of belief” that your unique observer operates under. This framework was built throughout your life from ALL of the life experiences you had. What were those? Who were those individuals responsible? The more clearly you can articulate this, the greater your results.
Section #4 – “Getting To Know Yourself - Part 2 - Moods And Their Influence” – What is the difference between “moods” and “emotions”? Well, it’s mostly a matter of time! Emotions are triggered by events; they are mostly immediate. Moods, on the other hand, are emotions that persist for longer periods of time from hours to decades! What are the moods that you bring with you? Do you know the 4 basic moods? Learn to move from the moods of Resentment and Resignation to something more productive in your life.
Section #5 – "Bust A Move - Learning To Give Yourself A Break From Mental “Chatter”" – No matter if we keep our mouths shut or open, we are ALWAYS in conversation! We either have a chattering internal loop or we are interacting with others! STOP this noise by moving your body. Here you will learn about the 5 body dispositions and how they cause us to experience certain emotions. Once you learn to move your body in an appropriate way to get satisfactory results, then you have a powerful tool to work with your emotions. The activities in this section invite you to practise moving your body into these dispositions.
Section #6 – "Declarations And How To Bring Joy And Satisfaction Into Your Life" – Declarations are at the heart of creating a life of meaning, value and satisfaction. Declarations are a speech act and have certain properties that allow you to use the generative power of language to create that “hoped for future” in your life.
Section #7 – “Approaching Resentment & Resignation With Lightness And Curiosity” – The moods of Resentment and Resignation can be particularly “heavy.” This section is about introducing the emotions of lightness and curiosity to work with these moods. Each of lightness and curiosity allow you to work with these moods and look at them from different perspectives. Activities in this section invite you to visualise and imagine just what it would be like for you to be in “lightness” and “curiosity.”
Section #8 – “Looking Ahead To Create A Satisfactory And Joyous “Hoped For” Future” – Creating that “hoped for” future is at the heart of the coaching relationship. Just what is it that you want to create in your life? Which areas of family, friends, career, community and more do you want that “hoped for” future?
Section #9 – “Life Is Meant To Be Lived Joyously… Stepping Lightly And In Joy” – We wrap up this course with the invitation to consider that life is meant to be lived joyously. The action steps are summarised here which invite you to #1 notice and #2 keep practising the skill of noticing. Then you can move into the investigative part of understanding the linguistic foundations of emotions and the associated body shapes that will allow you to take control of the situations, events and conversations in your life!
Section #10 – “BONUS Offers And Special Coupon Codes For Students” – I leave you with a special offer to work with me as a leadership life coach. Give me a shout and let’s have a conversation about what creates satisfaction in your life! Also included are coupon codes for my other courses!

Watch this short video to learn about the upcoming lectures in this section. I recently found a website listing over 4,000 emotions in the English language. Emotions are complex and there is so much available to use in daily life.
In 1649 René Descartes wrote “Les Passions de l’Ame” which means “Passions Of The Soul.” He named only six basic “passions” which are today’s emotions. From that work, we have psychologists such as Dr. Paul Ekman and Dr. Robert Plutchik who worked to classify emotions into “basic” emotions and trying to predict human behaviour. They came up with 6-16 “basic” emotions. I also introduce one of the concepts of the Vedic framework which says that the human body is the vehicle for the divine observer you are. It is that human body that experience emotions; you, the observer, merely interprets it.
For me, “Emotional Intelligence” means the ability, the skill, the flexibility, the agility and dexterity to move from one emotion to the next with ease. When approached this way, “Emotional Intelligence” is meant to be practised so that we can choose any emotion that is appropriate for the satisfactory result in any situation we encounter in life.
A simple breathing activity to help you notice what happens when you notice and work with emotions. We do this activity 3 times to help you notice what shows up as you breathe into emotion. The more you practise noticing, the greater your awareness of what emotions are available to you.
Congratulations! You deserve an applause. Go ahead and give yourself a hand! What have you learnt about emotions? What have you learnt about emotions as you experience and interpret them?
Watch this short video to learn about the upcoming lectures in this section. The invitation is to spend as much time as you can with the worksheets. I ask my clients to spend about an hour per worksheet but I recommend a minimum of 15-20 minutes. The more effort you put into this, the greater your rewards.
I describe the PDF documents that have a list of 135 different emotions. These emotions were compiled from a list on Wikipedia’s “Emotion” page as well as a few others. The list goes from A - Z and has a variety of emotions to get you started with your introspection and self-reflection.
This 9 page document of 15 different emotions per page lists the 135 different emotions. Use this document in whatever way makes sense to you. You can have a printed, hardcopy of this document beside you as you work with the worksheets.
This 3 page document of 45 different emotions per page lists the 135 different emotions. Use this document in whatever way makes sense to you. You can have a printed, hardcopy of this document beside you as you work with the worksheets.
I describe how to fill out the “Emotional Inheritances” worksheet that you can download in the following lecture. I recommend that you have the worksheet handy (hardcopy or digital) as you follow along.
This 3 page PDF worksheet asks you to spend some time in self-reflection and introspection and answer questions about which groups of individuals had an impact on you. Which groups/individuals and which time-frames of your life (from childhood to where you are now in life) caused you to develop and mature that unique observer’s framework of beliefs?
I describe how to fill out the “My Wardrobe Of Emotions” worksheet. Which areas of your life have an impact on you? How would you rate these areas in your life? And what emotions would you attach to each of these areas of life?
This 3 page PDF worksheet asks you to spend some time (3 to 5 minutes) max in the first two columns describing various areas of your life and your self-assessed rating of satisfaction. Then spend a bit more time describing the emotions you attach to each area of life as well as the rating you gave yourself. It will help to have the “List Of Emotions” handy as you fill out this worksheet.
We wrap up this section in two minutes covering the worksheets and the self-reflection activities. To recap, you are a unique observer in the world. And this unique observer interprets actions, events and emotions that is experienced by you! What influences have you had upon this unique observer that you are? How was that significant? What have you learnt?
Moods are a series of events that have “globbed” together over time, persistently to create a mood. These moods stay with us for long periods of time from a few hours to decades. Due to their persistence, they are relegated to the background of our awareness.
There are as many moods as there are emotions. However, these four basic moods are persistent through much of our interactions. The 4 basic moods are: resentment, resignation, acceptance and ambition. These basic moods form the first layer of “background emotions” that serve to influence our framework of belief that our unique observer operates under.
This 1 page PDF document shows the two components that form the 2x2 matrix of the 4 basic emotions. The two components are 1) time, past/present and future and 2) accepting / opposing of facts / possibilities. Which of these moods do you believe have the most influence on your daily actions? Which have the least?
Emotions are triggered by events, situations and conversations as we go through our daily routine. Persistent events, situations and conversations create persistent emotions which are relegated to the background of awareness and, hence, become moods.
Resignation is similar to resentment in that we “oppose” something. In this case, it is about opposing the possibilities available. The language of resignation sounds like this: “Why bother?” “Who cares?” etc. Resignation is not wrong or right. It has a certain energy that creates a certain range of actions and possibilities.
The invitation is to simply notice. How do you perceive and interpret events and situations in your life? The idea is to know which mood and emotion we are in. What do you bring with you when you get into conversations and interact with other individuals?
When we learn to accept the facticity of events, situations, interactions in the past or present, then we enter into the mood of acceptance. Once again, this is not a “positive” or “negative” emotion/mood! All it has is an energy that causes us to act from a different range of possibilities. In what areas of life do you bring the mood of acceptance?
The mood of ambition has an energy that can be described as “go-getting” or “engaged” or “energized.” When used in its proper capacity and effort, it can yield positive results. But when used to excess can create exhaustion. Which situations, events and conversations have you engaged in the mood of ambition? How has that served you?
The skill to learn is the skill of “noticing.” How aware are you of the moods and emotions that are experienced by you? How do you practise this skill of noticing? Some tips and techniques for implementing this skill are given in this lecture.
We have conversations ALL the time; the most persistent conversations are the ones that we have with ourselves. The invitation is to learn to notice all the noise in your head and stop the “parrots”, the “loros” from yammering on too much. How do you do it? Just “bust a move!”
In this video, I describe the skill of noticing and choosing your emotions. When you can practise the skill of changing emotions as rapidly as “leap[ing] tall buildings in a single bound” or to switch emotions “faster than a speeding bullet,” you will have more satisfaction in the results of your interactions with the world.
There are 5 body shapes or dispositions available for your use in conversations. They are: Centre; Resolution; Stability; Flexibility; Openness
In Ontological Coaching the first body disposition is called "Centre." From the disposition of "Centre" each of us is poised and available to move into any other disposition. Centre makes the space of possibility available.
Resolution can be powerful because it is a conscious choice we make. Resolution awakens power within us to take action that aligns us to commitment.
The disposition of openness invites possibilities into life. Relax and allow yourself to be the receiver.
In stability, your jaw is relaxed and there is a hint of a smile on your lips. Your spine is straight, your feet are rooted and your breath is deep and even.
When you notice a pattern showing up in your movements notice that and consciously choose to break it. Allow your body to move spontaneously. If any word is appropriate to describe flexibility it is the word spontaneous.
I invite you to notice your patterns. That’s the first step. Then use your power of interpretation and assess how satisfactory the results or outcomes are in your life. For those results that you wish to make more meaningful and have more value in your life, learn to make slight changes that interrupt existing patterns.
Congratulations on your commitment to learning about emotions! To recap, we learnt that emotions are triggered by events and that moods are persistent emotions. There are as many moods as there are emotions. Breaking the constant chatter in your head is about moving your body. The body influences the emotions and the emotions influence the body. Together they influence what interpretations your unique observer can make.
Joy and satisfaction are emotions and as such have “a story” and are interpreted by the unique observer you are. What actions do you take when you are in joy? What actions become possible when satisfaction enters your life?
Linguistically, declarations do one of four things. Declarations begin, resolve, end or evaluate aspects of life.
The invitation is to kick back, put your feet up and relax into this visualisation exercise. Use the power of your visual memory and make associations of YOUR interpretations of joy and satisfaction. What do they mean to you? What activities are “joyous” for you? Use your imagination and paint a landscape that engages ALL of your senses: visual, taste, touch, smell, sound.
What have you learnt? How will you make use of declarations to invite the emotions of joy and satisfaction into your life? What new possibilities do you see?
Lightness and curiosity are emotions. What does lightness look like for you? What about curiosity? What imagery can you associate with these emotions?
Resentment occurs when we oppose the events in the past/present. The tendency with resentment is to keep us stuck in the past, to keep us in a state of expectation that doesn’t materialize. This can become heavy at times especially when we interpret the past as “looming” larger and larger in our lives. The invitation is to notice the heaviness of those past / present events and “facticity” and ask how they can be perceived in “lightness.”
The mood of resignation is about opposing the possibilities available. The language of resignation sounds like this: “Why bother?” “Who cares?” etc. Use the emotion of curiosity to discover what new possibilities you describe in the events, situations and conversations you engage in.
The moods of resentment and resignation tend to be heavy. The invitation with these moods, as part of your emotional baggage, is to approach them with curiosity and lightness. Also explored are the Vedic frameworks of karma and dharma and taking action that is congruent with who you truly are.
Change is a given and it is an expected and natural part of interacting with the world around you. But it sucks because it is hard. What were the changes in your life? How was that a resistance or hurdle in your life? What ideas, thoughts, individuals are providing resistance in your life? Notice resistance then slowly introduce changes.
Imagine yourself to be a giant, living, breathing organism that can infect others through emotion, moods and body dispositions. As you travel with your emotional baggage and interact with others, so too do others travel with theirs. Who has the stronger influence? How do you know? How can you practise what you have learnt to create satisfactory results in these interactions?
The emotion of gratitude and gratefulness has a story that “life is a gift!” How would you live your life if you knew, deep down in the marrow of your bones, that this were true? What would your interactions be like? How would you practise being a gift?
Life is meant to be lived joyously. How can you take what you have learnt into your life now? What new declarations can you make about 1) your emotions 2) your interpretations 3) your body dispositions and 4) the language you can use around them?
I’ve worked with clients from all around the world. And every interaction with them is a tremendous joy! I invite you to work with me, as a leadership life coach, to create that life that has meaning and value for you.
