Any Coach, Counsellor, Therapist or Psychology Student will benefit from watching and learning the coaching processes in this course.
The course provides you with 4 very powerful personal growth tools to identify your personal values and anti-values. These tools are designed to slow down the thinking process. This helps you to increase wisdom about your past and present behaviours, choices or decisions. You will never have to make another New Years Resolution! Instead you will be able to choose a direction forward that is energised by your own personal values. The teaching is done with a live example of a coach and client working through the five step process. This process also lets you see how a coach works with people and how listening skills are employed to help a person hear themselves more clearly.
1. The first step maps your history to identify meanings of significant events. This process gives us a list of personal values and anti-values to work with.
2. The second step is to prioritise the values according to personal importance and benefit. This is done with a simple and deliberate set of questions which compares each value to the other.
3. The third step is similar to step two but focuses on the anti-values and how strongly your reaction is when these things happen.
4. Fourthly, the next tool creates a values driven set of goals and aspirations. This is where the strength, motivation and confidence will come from to accomplish your goals.
5. The final step of the course turns to providing a micro-strategy template for designing a practical strategy which you can implement to accomplish each chosen goal.
Worksheets are provided for each process with instructions. After you have seen the process demonstrated live you will be able to use the tools over and over again in your own personal way.
Anyone who is frustrated with making goals and then losing momentum will benefit from this course.
Personal transformation does not happen in two days. Personal growth occurs in a deliberate strategic day by day manner. A person can only Live Stronger when who you are is underwriting what you want to do. This course will deepen your understanding of yourself and clarify what direction you will want to take in the future.
This lecture shows you how to recall the significant memories that are part of your history. Both the negative and positive events will shape how you see the world now. When you do this yourself on the worksheet provided, you should look for at least 10 positive and 10 negative events.
This second part continues to show you how to recall the significant memories that are part of your history. Both the negative and positive events will shape how you see the world now. When you do this yourself on the worksheet provided, you should look for at least 10 positive and 10 negative events.
In part 3 of Mountains and valleys we transition to finding the significant phrases or words which are linked to the events on the board. These words will be used in the next phase and they are actually the values or anti-values that influence decisions.
Now that you have watched Bill and Melodie go through this process, take the downloadable worksheet and try it for yourself. Remember to ask yourself the questions that Bill did throughout the exercise, and use the words or phrases that come to mind. Don't spend too much time trying to come up with the right words. Have fun!
The worksheet 'Identifying your Values' will help you if you're stuck.
In this section Bill and Melodie show you how to figure out which values are most important to you. The main goal is to be able to understand what is most important to you.Another benefit is this exercise often helps people make more sense of the things they do. Watch for the questions Bill asks Melodie to help her figure out the order of importance her values have in her mind.
Now you can try this. Download the worksheet and write your 8 values from the previous exercise in the spaces. During this process, it is good to ask yourself what you get out of each value. This will help to decide which one is more important to you and therefore rank them.
In this lecture we take a look at the anti-values which came out of the negative experiences in Melodie's life. We use the chart to figure out which anti-values have the largest impact on her by asking the question...'Which one bothers you the most?' This information also leads to more discovery of the reasons for her behaviours. When you do the worksheet you will also be able to see how your anti-values impact your life.
As you have seen now, this process is exactly the same as the previous one. Don't forget that this is about you and what drives you! Forget about social pressures and dig inside yourself for the answers.
Now that we have an organised list of values and anti-values, Bill and Melodie work on laying out what hopes, dreams and desires she has, and then we link them to as many values or anti-values as possible. The more links you can make, the stronger the motivation will be to invest your time and energy into an activity.
Through this process you will be able to discover what your real goals are - and that they're tied to your true values. After you've watched Bill and Melodie go through it, download the worksheet and try it for yourself!
In this session Bill and Melodie work on one of her chosen goals and they design a micro-strategy which is with in her capacity to complete. You can do this for several goals over time. But we suggest you get started with one, get it in motion, and then add another after you see progress.
The micro-strategy is a fantastic tool to find out what you have, what you need and what actions you need to take to realize your goal in just 90 days. This will work for all goals, and at the same time too. Once you've watched, download the worksheet and get to work!
Seven years of counselling, coaching and travelling in the Middle East has given me a great respect for the diversity of humanity. While in Kuwait, it was a great privilege to work with many professionals, diplomats, and elite leaders of unique corporations. This international experience has given me a broader perspective on how people think, live and work which has resulted in a deeper level of tolerance for differences and compassion for others. Now back at home in Canada, I am focused on providing personal growth opportunities through my private practice and online courses. Many people have not trained themselves to work with emotional pressures, stress, or the work/life balance. When you work with me, we will identify the strengths and values that maximize your personal growth and professional potential.
Personal Growth Coaching is for any person who wants to Live Stronger so that they can Work Wiser, and Love Deeper.
