----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can start playing beautiful music today using this Piano Ballad Left Hand Nostalgic 10 with guided videos, just like having a teacher sitting right next to you.

A student pays me $100 for 1/2 hour lesson, and now you are getting a super deal for 2+ hours lessons. You always get life time access to my videos, a dream come true for all passionate piano students. Extra bonus service for each student: a personal one-on-one feedback & evaluation when you send me a recording of your playing in the course. This is a real experience of a live piano teacher beside you to take your piano playing to the next level!

Here's the Secret: Many professional musicians use this Piano Nosalgic 10 technique in their performance. They don't tell you. This is why you need to take this course. I am telling you all the inside secrets of what we use - and they are unbelievably simple. You do not need to go through years and years of piano lessons to play like a pro!

My video lectures will show you the secrets and piano tips of using finger cross over to make that beautiful nostalgic sound that people love to listen to!

You are going to able to learn how to coordinate both right hand and left hand easily to play a song in the flow in C Key and F Key.

*****************************************************************************

The Piano Lesson "Left Hand Piano Technique: Nostaligic 10th" trains all pianists to learn to play the Nostalgic 10th into the song "I've Got Peace Like A River" in Key of C and Key of F.

Day by day piano lessons are provided for 60 days so that you can focus on your practice everyday with a 1 to 2 minute video demonstration.

Once you are able to play a song thoroughly in the Key of C, you can learn to play the song in another key. This is to help students not to restrict their piano playing in the Key of C. The problems with many students is that they get stuck in only the Key of C.

I show you a step by step process to play the song in Key of F EFFORTLESSLY. You just need to have the piano tip to know what to concentrate so that you can practice very quickly and at ease.

The piano videos are there to help you experience the 'quickness' of the hands, ie. to play the Nostalgic 10th with ease and in a flowing manner. Once you understand the music theory and how to train your finger muscle memory in my guided piano lessons, you will 'drift into the flow' of piano playing that sounds professional in a very quick time.

In the next 2 months, you will be able to learn the 7 Easy Steps to playing Left Hand Nostalgic 10 in a flowing manner using my piano method.

The piano lessons are structured in the following way:

  • You learn the LH pattern of Nostalgic 10th to Chords C, F, G, D in C Key.
  • You learn the LH pattern of Nostalgic 10th to Chords F, Bb, C7, G7 in F Key.
  • In the beginning stage, I show you how to play I've Got Peace Like A River with music score sheet. LH & RH coordination.
  • Then you learn the Rhythm of Left Hand Nostalgic 10th to see how the 'counting' fits into the bar when you play a Nostalgic 10th chord. LH & RH coordination.
  • You learn to play the song following music score.
  • You learn to play the song using chords and rhythm.
  • Finally you get to the stage of playing the song by ear paying attention to the chord progression sounds.

As a Bonus: You also learn how to end a song properly by using the Amen Chord Ending in the Key of C and in the Key of F.

For students to become confident in their learning and to watch their own progress, I am providing an "Accountability PPP" for all my students in Udemy.

PPP stands for Piano Progress Points.

When students know that they need to have accountability to the teacher, they are more motivated to know that there is a teacher there to encourage them, to answer their questions, and to care for them so that they move on from one level to the next.

Please download the PPP slide and print it out so that you know how to calculate your 'points' as you move along.

I will provide 3 PPP for you in this course so that you can calculate your points in 3 Sections!

This is EXCITING for you and for me! :) :)

Be sure to print this out right away and when I give you your 1st PPP, start recording your points.

When you finish the course, email your PPP reports to me and I will reward you!

Section 2: Music Score Sheet - C Key & F Key - I've Got Peace Like A River
1 page

Please download the attached pdf file.

Here you see the complete music sheet of "I've Got Peace Like A River".

This song is usually written in the Key of F.

I want to include this music sheet to show you how difficult it is to play this song using this kind of score sheet. This kind of music is very static. If you follow note by note playing, you hear boredom and you want to fall asleep ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz. This is why for many years, I hated playing piano at church.

You are going to learn to play piano in a fun, dynamic and creative way.

To play creative music in a fun way, you need to improvise with your Left Hand and Right Hand.

This course will show you how to improvise with your Left Hand using the Nostalgic 10 Technique. You do not need to have all the LH notes written out for you because you are going to learn this technique to apply not only to this song but to many of your favorite songs.

You only need to learn Chords and the Piano Technique to create beautiful music for yourself and for your listeners.

This is a demo video to show you that by the end of the course, you will be able to play "I've Got Peace Like A River" smoothly and in a flowing manner in the Key of C and in the Key of F.

As a bonus for all my students, I am including a pdf file of the entire course upon finishing the course so that you can download it for your reference. :) You need to get to the end of the course to get the pdf file.

You do not need the pdf file to follow the lectures here but I know my students, they love to have a pdf file of the entire course to keep for their future reference.

This is the FUN part of the course as you watch yourself GROW in this PPP!

Please take some time to do the following:

Please print out the Students Accountability PPP - Key of C

1. 26 Technique Practice are listed out for you

2. In the following 26 lectures, you will receive video instruction for each technique to practice

3. Write down the date you started learning the specific technique practice

4. Note down the duration of your practice time - the number of minutes

5. Assess yourself with the 5 Smileys - Refer to the Smiley Score Points

6. Write down the appropriate points

From now on, at the end of the specific lecture, I will write: RECORD YOUR PPP

You then take out this PPP, take one minute to notate your progress. It will only take one minute.

This is very helpful for you to monitor your piano progress.

If you experience difficulties, contact me and I will help you out!

Most important: Enjoy your piano journey! This is FUN!

00:55

Piano Tip:

Use the 3rd Finger to Cross Over

Notice how easy the 3rd finger crosses over.

1. Left Hand begins the arpeggio using 3 notes.

2. The 3rd finger continues the arpeggio starting on the 9th tone of the chord

3. This is why I highlighted the 9th tone for you

4. That is the place to do the cross over.

The 9th tone of the chord is also the 2nd tone in the scale.

You are playing this Nostalgic 10th in the span of 2 octaves.

For the first octave - the scale tones are numbered 1 to 8.

On the 8th tone, the chord repeats again.

When you play in the span of 2 octaves, the 2nd tone of the 2nd octave can also be called the 9th tone. This is how professional musicians like to call them.

To get professional sounds, you need to play BEYOND one octave. This is how you make beautiful music. Do not restrict yourself to play within just one octave. Your sounds are very limited if you only play within one octave. This is why you need to use your fingers to cross over when you play in 2 octave span.

HOMEWORK: RECORD YOUR PPP

01:11

C - Nostalgic 10 Practice

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

The nostalgic 10 is played in 8th notes.

-----------------------------------------

In the video, you see these tones written out for you:

LH: 1 5 8 9 3 5 3 9

Each chord tone represents a note:

1 = C

5 = G

9 = D

3 = E

You are actually playing the following notes with the chord tone numbers:

LH: C G C D E G E D

Piano Tip: You notice that in my notation, I did not write out the "Name" of the notes for you. It is not necessary at all. I only wrote the numbers!

Can you guess why?

This is the SECRET you must learn as you practice your piano!

You must learn this! All professional players don't think in "notes" or "the names of the chord tones".

If you want to practice piano in a way that grows in leaps and bounds, do NOT think in chord tones!

This is accelerated learning! This is what makes playing piano EZ and FUN! :)

1. Use the Chord tone numbers to guide you so that you pay attention to the chord tone numbers rather than than the chord names. Why? Because all the chords that you are going to learn have the same 'numbers' in this Nostalgic 10th. The chord tone 'numbers' don't change at all! Do you SEE the Piano Tip? You must grasp this SECRET Tip in your mind so that when you practice, you know where to focus and concentrate. If you concentrate on the 'notes', the names of the notes change as you move from chord to chord.

2. Train your hand to flow in this way as you play Nostalgic 10th.

3. Get this pattern into your hands and you do not need to think in chord names at all.

4. The Chord Tone Numbers are there to guide you along so that you know what tones you are playing. Many times I don't even bother to think in chord tones either. But this is too advanced for you. For now, you can just look at the numbers and let them sink into your mind as you practice.

-------------------------------------

Play in 8th NOTES

In the video, I put in the rhythm for you to play in:

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

The whole idea is for you to know which chord tone fits into the 8th tone rhythm.

1. Count out loud as you play the 8 chord tones.

2. Then count in your heart as you play the 8 chord tones.

3. Forget about counting and just play the 8 chord tones.

4. If you do not have a piano in front of you, imitate my hand movement and play on the table, on the chair, on your lap, etc.

5. Train your Left Hand to play in that movement.

6. Go to the piano and play out these tones.

--------------------------------

Practice Tip:

1. Practice in such a way so that you do not even need to think in 'chord tones' eventually.

2. Practice in such a way so that you do not even need to count out loud.

Drop me a note when you become successful to practice in this way.

This is how all my students practice and they love practicing and playing piano because they learn quickly and gain confidence quickly.

This is how I want you to practice as you move along in these videos.

**Please refer to this lecture again so that you get into this routine to practice. I will not repeat these practice instructions again as we go along.**

F - Nostalgic 10 Practice

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

The nostalgic 10 is played in 8th notes.

--------------------------

Refer to the previous lecture video to Practice in the right way!

You need to learn to think like a musician that plays piano and not play from book theories.

For too many years, I tried to play piano from the book music theory. Music theory is good for you to know what is happening in the music but it is not helpful for you when it comes to playing in the flow.

To play in the flow is to learn to think in a NEW way.

This NEW way is not taught to you by many traditional teachers because they need to teach you to play music in a theoretical way so that you can write your exams.

We are here to play piano in a FUN and CREATIVE way that is enjoyable and not to write exams. We are here to play , play and play.

Please read yesterdays' lecture again until you have it ingrained in your heart to practise piano in a right way throughout these video lessons.

Have fun,

Rosa

G - Nostalgic 10 Practice

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

The nostalgic 10 is played in 8th notes.

--------------------------------------------

I want you to pay attention to the way I did the videos.

The videos are meant to be short, clear for you to FOCUS.

In this way, you can just click on the video and practice wherever you are, even if you do not have a piano or keyboard in front of you.

Just train your hands to go along in this movement while you are waiting for the bus, drinking your coffee, taking a break, etc.

Drop me a note and let me know how you are progressing at this beginning stage,

Rosa

D - Nostalgic 10 Practice

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

The nostalgic 10 is played in 8th notes.

--------------------------------------

Learning chords may seem tricky and confusing, especially for beginners. Don't despair, once you understand how these chords are related and their respective patterns, you'll see that chords aren't so hard to learn after all.

The D7 Chord here is actually a Secondary Dominant Chord in the Key of C.

If you want to learn about Reharmonization and secondary dominant chord, you can come to my site and take the Reharmonization Method Kits.

-----------------------------------------------------

The D7 chord sounds great before the V7 (which is G7 in Key of C).

The D7 chord has the following chord tones: D F# A C

Notice there is a black key - F# - in the D Chord.

That F# sounds great right before the G7 Dominant Chord.

Listen to the sound and you will love hearing this sound and putting this sound into your piano playing.

Section 5: Key of C Line 1 - I've Got Peace Like a River
00:49

Play Line 1 following the music score.

In the video, you can see that I don't follow the melody line exactly.

Sometimes I improvise a little bit and change the rhythm of the RH

melody. When you improvise, you can either change the rhythm or

the melody tones. There is no need to follow the melody line note by note.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch the Video in the following steps:

1. Watch My Right Hand

  • My RH plays the melodic lines
  • For the fingering, there is no hard and fast rule which finger to play which note
  • The idea is to play in the flow
  • I always start with my thumb because the melody of a song tends to go up
  • My '3rd finger' and 'Pinkie' usually guides along to play the melodic lines, while the '4th finger' plays the in between notes.
  • If you want to learn more about 'fingering' and how to play smoothly and in the flow, you can consider taking my 7 Secrets Roadmap where I show you many secret tips from my 30+ years of piano playing.

2. Watch My Left Hand

  • My Left Hand just keeps playing the Nostalgic 10th in rhythm and in a flowing manner
  • I don't even need to think about what is happening in the LH
  • The LH automatically knows where to go when I play this pattern
  • You have already trained yourself to play these chords in Nostalgic 10th in the previous video lessons
  • The fingers already know where to go as soon as the C Chord comes up
  • The fingers already know where to play as soon as the F Chord comes up
  • The fingers automatically plays G Chord when G7 comes up
  • Yes, you can even play them in your sleep
  • You can do it too if you have followed my practice tips in the previous lectures!

3. Both Hands Coordination

  • When you play slow you will be able to coordinate both hands together
  • This is why I played this in slow motion for you to follow along
  • It is better to play slow in rhythm than to stop and go playing
  • Slow down in your playing and you will find yourself coordinating easily

------------------------------------------------

Homework:

Play this in slow motion so that you can play in the flow. It is better to play slow than to play and stop in between. You need to play in the tempo and this section of playing in slow motion is to help you pace yourself in good timing.

HOMEWORK: RECORD YOUR PPP

00:49

The Chord Progression is: C C F G7

The Nostalgic 10th as 8 tones. For each chord your LH is going to play 8 tones.

You count the 8 tones like this: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

**I purposely didn't count out loud for you because I want you to train yourself to have the habit of counting in your heart.**

When I practice with my students here, I count out loud for them initially.

And then I train them to count in their hearts.

Since this is not a local setting and students only refer to these videos, I want to impress on their minds that they do NOT need to count out loud at all. Let your heart beat count with you, inside you! This is very important!

Why?

When you count out 'loud', you are too busy listening to your counting that you don't listen to the music or the flow of music.

Pianists who 'count' out loud play mechanically!

Nothing flows!

When you feel the 'beat' in your heart, your playing flows!

Believe me!

I only discoverd this after 20 years of playing.

You are going to get this secret on this first course that I put out in Udemy! How lucky you are!

I wish someone had told me this long ago when I learned piano.

________________________________

Play Line 1 in slow motion with the chords

You are now going to move on to 'think' in chords as you play.

You don't need the music score to play the song at all.

Following the following procedure to practice:

1. As you play, think of the chords and move along as one chord goes to the next.

2. There is no need to think of the exact chord tones as you play.

3. Just think of Chord C ... and then Chord F.... and then Chord G7

4. In this way, you will be surprised how well you can play without the music score and just think in chords.

5. There is no need to think of the 'details' of the notes that you play.

6. So what if you happen to hit a wrong note. Let it be. You must learn to love making these mistakes because these so called mistakes will surprise you once in a while how well they sound when these sounds are not expected. This can't even be taught. So let yourself make mistakes.

Please make a note of this secret tip that I have shared with you and drop me a note here, or write me an email here: Rosa@LearnPianoWithRosa.com

This video is the first step to help you play songs without the music score in front of you.

HOMEWORK: RECORD YOUR PPP

00:49

Congratulate yourself for making this far - Now you are entering into the stage of playing by EAR!

In this video, I have taken out the rhythm section so that you do not even need to depend on the counting to play the first line.

Now that you have the practice of playing with music score and playing with chords in front of you, you can now concentrate on listening to the sounds you make as you play. This is how you play by ear.

You listen carefully to the music that you make.

In the other 2 videos, your concentration is on the music score and chords.

Now, your concentration is on the sounds that you make.

This is the beginning step of learning to play by ear - paying attention to the music you make rather than looking at music score or chords.

I still wrote the chord progression out for you so that you can hear the sound movement of chords moving from: C to C to F to G7

In Music, chords are normally written in Roman Numerals:

C = Chord I

F = Chord IV

G7 = Chord V7

So this first line, the chord movement is I to IV to V7

:)

HOMEWORK: RECORD YOUR PPP

01:06

Now you are ready to play the entire line 1 in Normal Tempo.

1. Play along with music score in front of you.

2. Play along with the chords written in front of you.

3. Play along by EAR

Congratulations!

Section 11: Key of F Line 1 of I've Got Peace Like A River
00:47

Play this in slow motion so that you can play in the flow.

It is better to play slow than to play and stop in between. You need to play in the tempo and this section of playing in slow motion is to help you pace yourself in good timing.

Follow the Chords. As you play, try to think of the Name of the Chords you play.

When you play F Chord, think of F Chord. Tell yourself you are playing F Chord.

This will help your fingers to memorize the movement of the F Chord as your head trains your fingers.

00:47

Now that you know what chords to play, you can listen to the sounds of the chords as they move from one chord to another.

In the F Key, you need to remember there is a black key - Bb

Once you train your mind to play Bb, everything will come very natural.

Master this chord progression movement as you play in slow motion.

Rosa Suen, Best Seller Music Teacher, 35 Years Pianist, 25,00+ students

Rosa is the Pastor and Church Pianist for a local community church in Hong Kong for over 30 years. She graduated from University of British Columbia and received her teaching certificate specializing in Chemistry and teaching English as a second language. She taught public schools in Canada for a couple of years and then went on to receive her Master's degree in Christian Theological Ministry at Ontario Theological Seminary in Toronto. She started full time ministry with her husband in 1989 and received intensive Pastoral Counselling and Discipleship Training at Christian Disciples Church. They were ordained to become church ministers as Pastors in 1996 in a local church in Tsuen Wan and have been ministering to this same congregation for almost 20 years now.

Over the years, she has gone on church missions to Mongolia, Sydney, Nepal, India and expedition trips to the Holy Lands: Israel, Greece and Turkey. Wherever she went, she found herself taking up the music ministry and became the church pianist for that church.

Many people at church have asked her to teach them to play piano. As a result of her passion in playing piano, she started developing piano courses initially for church pianists online since 2008. The piano courses are very unique because she was finally willing to share her Unique Piano Method: Color Chord Improvisation Method known as CCI. The CCI method works for all types of music: Gospel, Pop and Standards.

This Piano Method is easy, fun and creative that you learn to play piano not only from music score sheets, but to play chords from fake books and eventually to play by ear. Students all over the world have requested for courses to teach them play standards and popular songs. As a result she developed 3 Great Reharmonization Method courses for them to play from fake books and play by ear. The Dreamy Piano Techniques courses, especially the one on Autumn Leaves is her students favorite. She has a piano website at Learn Piano With Rosa where she continues to offer new courses to her students. She also holds piano workshops for her local students and train church pianists.

With her education and expertise in teaching, her students love her piano courses and found her piano lessons extremely easy and fun to play piano. They are highly motivated to play piano and playing piano had never been more fun and satisfying for them. You can read their testimonies on her website.
