Presto is an open source distributed SQL query engine for running interactive analytic queries against data sources of all sizes ranging from gigabytes to petabytes. Presto allows querying data where it lives, including Hive, Cassandra, relational databases or even proprietary data stores. A single Presto query can combine data from multiple sources, allowing for analytics across your entire organization.
Developed by Facebook, it is also used by other leading companies such as Netflix, Airbnb, LinkedIn, and Uber. Many of these companies use Presto to query SQL on Hadoop at big data scale.
In this course, you'll learn the fundamentals of Presto. You'll learn about the concepts and architecture behind Presto, how to install and configure Presto for different requirements and how to administer Presto, including tuning, performance, and diagnosis.
We'll also get into how to use different interfaces with Presto—such as R and Tableau. We'll then dive into the expressive SQL language that Presto offers for your analysis. By the end of this course, you'll know the key concepts of Presto and how to use them to take full advantage of your modern big data system.
