Instructor Biography

Monica Velozo, Translator and Interpreter

Hello. My name is Monica Velozo. I am a translator and interpreter graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. I provide translation and interpreting services for Japanese, English and Brazilian Portuguese. I have worked with companies such as Nissan, IHI, Mitsubishi and Asahi Shimbun.

My biggest passion is the study of languages. I strongly believe that when we learn a foreign language we open our hearts and minds to new possibilities we would not even consider before. My favorite thing after learning is teaching the languages I know to people who are interested in discovering new cultures and new points of view. We live in a very big world that is getting smaller every day. The first step in order to be a part of this new international society, which is rising, is learning a foreign language.

Some people might say learning languages so different from English (such as Portuguese or Japanese) is too hard or even say those languages are impossible to master. I, of course, strongly disagree. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn any language if the mind is set on the goal. Perseverance converts into strength! Come join me! Let us jump into the wonderful world of the language study!
