Process mapping is a tool that analysts use to describe how the work flows from step one through to the end. It includes the people and tools involved and is the basis for process improvement.
Sometimes you just need to show how the process works, and you don't have the time or money for in-depth analysis. This course will show you the basics of mapping a process so you can shine.
How process mapping relates to Policy, Procedures, and Training Manuals.
Process Improvement and how it relates to process mapping
This tool is a list of Microsoft products that I've used to map processes for myself, and for clients. I tend to be cheap when it comes to buying technology, so I've played around with some of the free trials for the expensive ones. If it's not clear in the tool, I recommend Visio if you are willing to spend a little money (I'm not getting any payment for that), but you can easily do what this course teaches with MSWord and a little patience.
This document shows the same process drawn in three different methods. I created it in Visio first because I find that allows me to think about the process rather than the format. In Shapes or SmartArt, I have to give more consideration to the tool than the process.
