|Section 2: Extensions and Templates|
JED (Joomla Extension Directory) has thousands of both free and paid extensions to choose from. Extensions are great tools to enhance your website. See the directory
With a high traffic website, you can sell ad space on your website. Add unlimited clients, banners and category.
Redirect is a new feature that was introduced in Joomla 2.5. It's a great tool to use when you want to redirect an old page to a new one. You can manually set a redirect for each link or redirect multiple pages at once.
The search function is very helpful for visitors to find exactly what they're looking for on your website. If you have a blog or media type website, this is a must feature to include on your website.
Weblinks allow you to create a basic directory where people can post their links.
Your entire website is broken down into different module sections. Modules allow you to add content (text, images, videos, links, etc) on the front end of your website.
You can find a module position by simple using the module manager.
You can also create, edit, and delete any unnecessary modules.
You can download paid and free plugin from the JED direction the same way you do other extensions. See plugin directory
It's important to delete any extension that you don't need. Even though extensions are a great way to enhance your website, adding too many of them will slow down your site. This may cause extensive delays whenever someone views your website.
|Section 3: Security and Access Control|
To keep your Joomla site safe, you need a security component such as Admin Tools. This extension is one of the best extensions used by some of the top Joomla website to secure their website.
This extension is a paid one so in the future, you need to buy a subscription package in order to get the latest updates. But for now, I bought it so that you can use it.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you don't leave your screen unattended for too long. If you do and haven't configured the component, Joomla will automatically log you out of the site. You will have to delete the extensions manually it through the database via phpmy admin in order to have access to your admin panel.
