Course Description

JobPrep is a series of modules aim at people who want to get prepared to find their next job or are looking to maximize their salary and advancement prospects in their existing role.

I have been a professional salesperson, Executive Recruiter and Entrepreneur for over 15 years. As a Recruiter I have interviewed over 8,000 candidates and I have read over a quarter of a million resumes - so I have an in-depth understand of the good, the bad and the downright ugly as far as recruitment and resumes are concerned.

The first module - The Resume - will show you the best resume structure and content to use to make sure that it gets read and gives you the best possible chance of getting an interview.

We are going to go through what the job market is like, why are you looking for another role in the first place, and what alternatives have you got apart from leaving the job you are in.

Next I'm going to share with you what employers are really looking for in a candidate. You might be surprised just how many of the criteria you do (or do not) meet!

Then we get into the guts of it - what does the best resume look like, how is it structured, why do some get read and others just get checked in the bin?

I'm also going to give you a fairly long list of the "Do's and Don'ts" when preparing your resume. The devil is in the detail and sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference.

The Lost Art of the Cover Letter OR how to rocket yourself right to the front of the queue! Why you should take the time to use this as your IMPACT STATEMENT!

I'm also going to share with you some simple ideas on where else you can look for a job rather than continuously smashing yourself on the job boards. There may be some absolute gems right in front of your nose that you never considered.

Yes, you'll get a first class resume from doing this course but the real benefit will come from knowing how to use it, where to use it, and who to use it on!

So, let's prepare for your next job.

Section 1: JobPrep - Prepare for your next job - How to write a resume
05:00

Well here we go! This is the introduction to "JobPrep - The Resume" and it will give you a summation of the course and define the outcomes you will get from it.

06:23

Lets take a look at what the current job market is like, what candidates are experiencing in their search for new positions, and explain what Job Board Fatigue Syndrome is.

06:21

Lets take a quick look at why you are about to throw yourself into the job market and see what other options you have.

07:02

Let's take a look at the things that employers are looking for, what they find attractive in a candidate, and whether or not you have some of these qualities and experiences.

09:04

This is the chapter where we discuss the 'skeleton' of your resume and where you put the 'muscles' on it. The structure of this resume is the most read and easily understandable by employers and provides them with the information they need to decide if you fit what they might be looking for.

Make sure you open download the JobPrep Resume Template and save it as "Your Name Resume"

08:00

Okay, this is where we make sure you put your best foot forward by talking about everything NOT TO DO and making sure that you understand all the MUST DOS! Take notes! This is where you can rocket ahead of the competition just by knowing what's right and what's wrong.

03:51

Yes, it takes a bit more effort on your behalf but it is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL to make sure you get ahead of the pack and stand out from the crowd.

07:23

There are a lot more options (smarter options!) than just shooting your resume off to dozen of jobs via Job Boards. Lets take a look at where else you can look to get a great job.

04:14

The candidates that really get ahead of the bunch and usually get the chance to attend an interview are the ones that call to ask qualifying questions AND have a strong "Evelator Pitch".

It's not hard to do but you need to download the Qualifying Questions and choose the ones you like AND you need to download the Elevator Pitch and take 15 minutes to put yours together and then rehearse it so you come across as smooth and confident.

05:02

Yes, this can be a rough road to go down as finding a new job can take time, be disheartening and not happen to plan - SO TOUGHEN UP!

You will get there in the end and if you use all the information found in this course, it won't be nearly as bad as you think.

Below you will find the resume template to complete with all your information in it.

Good luck with your search!
