Melanie Williams was raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and is a product of NYC public and private schools. As such, she has experienced a wide range of instruction (quality of education) as a student, teacher and administrator.
She earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from North Carolina Central University, a Masters Degree in Education (grades K – 12) and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership (K – 12) both, from East Carolina University. She is a licensed School Building Leader in multiple states. To date, she holds approximately 16 years of experience in Education, comprised of: Teacher (8 years), Assistant Principal (3 years), Managing Director of a Teacher Staffing Organization (1 year) and Principal (currently in her 4th year and counting…).
Far too often, the neighborhood in which a student lives is a determining factor for whether or not he/she receives quality educational experiences. She has a passion and personal dedication to serving inner-city youth in a way to facilitate high quality education, regardless of the students' home zip code.
For Melanie, creating online courses for educators is an intimate process. Before deciding on talking points, she thinks about whether the information provided will be a value-add for readers and how the information will be used. Once she is confident that the talking points outline research-proven, time tested strategies that work well, she adds them to the course's content.
The goal is to create real, practical suggestions, best practices and ideas that are not typically addressed in a college setting. If/when implemented by readers, her hope is that use of the course will simultaneously increase student achievement across the world.
Thus, creating a positive ripple effect impacting students' educational trajectory.
