We believe you should only do something if you're truly passionate about it! Like most things, any job or career can become boring and old unless you consistently see how you're creating something valuable for others - and yourself. In this video, learn how to ignite your passion for becoming an interactive Wedding DJ, MC & Entertainer by finding your personal Why.
If you're having any trouble with this, watch Simon Sinek's "Start with Why" TEDx Talk in the resources below and/or better yet, read/listen to his book by the same title. It'll change the way you look at what you're doing and even how you're marketing your business.
We ain't trying to be your momma - or your PE teacher. But the cold hard fact is you are what you eat. If you eat junk food, you're going to feel like junk... Maybe not today but it always catches up with you.
We always do our best to eat real food before a gig and keep ourselves in good shape with exercise and lifestyle choices. You're an entertainer and want to look the part - fit, handsome/beautiful, presentable, professional, etc. You don't want your beer belly to take away from your magnetic personality - or your dance moves. We live in a often superficial world and just looking successful can go a long way. Plus, you'll feel better and better about yourself and boost your self-image and positivity with these tips and tricks in this video.

As a DJ, you have to show up and give your best 24/7, 365 days out of the year. Learn some of our tips and tricks for overcoming stress before a gig so you can give your best at every performance so you don't have an additional problem of sucking at your event. You don't want to make the Bridezillas angry, do you?! THAT we can't help you with. Unless of course you just apply what we're teaching you. ;-)
Yikes! It's scary to think about but there is always a potential of equipment failure which is why you should always have a backup. Listen to how DJ Tommy kept his cool and got through a scenario where he had equipment failure right before his wedding began.
Part 2 of the epic story! The analysis and breakdown of the whole situation.
Part 3 of the epic story! The grand finale and happy ending!
In this video we're talking about drama. Whether it be the girlfriend, boyfriend, wife or husband... You might need to deal with this someday before a gig. Here is DJ Tommy talking about overcoming stress related to the home and love life.
We see it all up in the North Georgia Mountains where we DJ: Dry Southern Baptist Weddings all the way to Hotlanta transplants making us do keg-stands with the Bride and Groom weddings. (True story. DJ Tommy has done it with personal friends of ours! ;-)) You need to wear the right personality for the right crowd and that's what we talk about in this video!
Disclaimer: Must be 21 or older to drink alcohol in the United States.
Touchy subject right here! Sometimes, you're going to be offered a drink (or two or three or four) by guests and even the Bride and Groom. We're not saying don't ever drink... It could actually be considered rude to certain families. But, you absolutely do NOT want to overdo it for very good reasons. Learn more in this video which takes up the subject of: To Drink or Not to Drink?
You don't want to be the DJ or MC who clearly does not sound excited to be at a wedding. This might be more common than you think. You have to be able to lift spirits and get people into the spirit of celebrating. Genuine excitement when speaking and announcing can do SO much for your public image and success and that's why we cover it in this video. Learn how to pour excitement throughout your event, tips on detecting and improving this and much more!
"I'm not a jukebox." Do you have this sticker on your laptop or have this thought when taking requests at a gig? There are certain attitudes that will absolutely kill your event - and the amount of fun you're having with this job. Learn how to avoid this in this video. Even though you might need to play "The Chicken Dance" here or there or "Uptown Funk" for the rest of your Wedding DJ life (when you're tired of it already), the good news is there are ways to make it more fun and exciting - and cover yourself in case you need to play "corny" music.
As you get better and better, you'll start attracting and taking on bigger and better paying gigs. This usually means more PRESSURE and STRESS when you're in front of bigger and more high-end crowds. And oh yeah! A lot of your future clients are sitting in the crowd at this wedding you're at today so no pressure! ;-) There are ways to channel tension into a performance to make it work for you. Learn more in this video!
We are ALL about interaction, if you couldn't tell already. ;-) The reason is simple - it distinguishes us from other Wedding DJ's and people LOVE it. And we love it! This means most Wedding DJ's ARE NOT interacting and applying the things we're teaching you so take the advantage and make a name for yourself with minimal marketing dollars. Learn why this is so important and how to get started!
Dance dance dance! You don't have to be Michael Jackson status to get on the dance floor and shake your tail feather. We dance at most every single one of our weddings and never get complaints. Of course we keep it fun & professional and don't overdo it to the point that we're slacking. DJ Tommy is a master of getting out and dancing with people and is probably the number one KEY action that built our business so quickly in a short amount of time with very little marketing dollars.
The bigger your goals and the bigger you "think," the more motivated you're going to get. Listen to our suggestions for pumping yourself up to propel you into the future!
Unless you're Kanye West, you may have experienced some self-consciousness or self-confidence issues. These can affect your willingness to get out and interact with a big group of strangers so therefore it's something that we take up in this video a bit to give you some ideas on how to overcome those fears and dance!
At every gig you get to perform at, you always want to put your best foot forward. Think of yourself as an injection of professionalism and class - like Frank Sinatra! This is incredible marketing for yourself into the future.
"Oh no! I forgot __________! S&*t! F#*k!" This is how you DON'T want to start a gig or event off. It can kill your momentum and mood and take your attention off of the important thing: delivering exceptional entertainment!
In this lesson, you're going to get our full checklist that you can insert into Reminders (for Mac & iOS) or Evernote (Mac, PC, Android, iOS) so you can go through it before you leave for your gig to ensure you haven't forgotten anything. Be sure to add any other items that are part of your setup to customize it for yourself. But this is a pretty decent list to start off with! Enjoy. :)

Check out DJ Dominick Pirone enthusiastically announce a bridal party AND see his setup. Notice the volumes while he announces each bridesmaid and groomsmen and how he introduces the bride and groom when the time comes! Expect some nerves when your intro happens. You can actually see my hands shaking from the adrenaline rush. Haha! Notice how I pump up the crowd at the beginning but keep things brief. You can also add in the extra interaction of asking people who's travelled the furthest. This wedding was running a bit behind so I skipped that part. Obviously, you want to make sure you get everyone's attention at the beginning and sound genuinely excited. Hope this helps so you can see how it's done! :)

Hey there! I'm DJ Tommy Pirone. I have over 10 years of experience in the music and entertainment industry. My passion for music started on piano at the age of 11, in middle school I dabbled in trumpet, and then I switched to drum set and singing when Blink 182 and System of a Down were popular in school (our band rocked the 8th grade dance...oh yeah!). In college, my professor dressed up in a full Easter Bunny outfit one day and announced he was starting a special studies DJ class (deadmau5 put him up to it). I joined this class and fell in love with DJing. After graduating college with a degree in music I started my own company, Pirone Entertainment. I've been a full-time Wedding DJ Professional ever since. Pirone Entertainment is located an hour north of Atlanta, GA in a beautiful wedding destination town called Dahlonega. Nice to meet you!
