Through applying social and ethical protocols and practices when using ICT, students are developing an understanding of intellectual property for digital information and applying their understanding when producing work.
When producing work, students understand the benefits and consequences of using ICT in today’s society. Students store their physical and virtual resources safely and security, maintaining an awareness of the implications of storing and sharing resources with people around the world.

ICT assists students to conduct research for investigation. Students use the Internet to search through a range of valuable resources to find solutions to problems and help answer questions.
This ICT capability has more to do than just searching the Internet, students learn how to conduct appropriate searches to get the solutions they are searching for, continuously evaluating their search results based on what keywords they enter into the search field.
Students understand how to investigate information to ensure they gather valid, timely and relevant information from the source.

This is the fun stuff! Students are using ICT to develop ideas, plans and processes in order to respond to a given problem or task. Students use their creative abilities and resources to combat the challenges of the task to achieve a set goal. Creating with ICT can range from a beginner stage to advanced, and may not require students to learn ‘new’ creative skills to achieve this capability.

Students are encouraged to use ICT to communicate and share ideas and information to collaboratively construct digital solutions. Students demonstrate their understanding of subject content through collaborative tools, gaining a broader range of understanding on given topics based on peer- to - peer learning and sharing of resources and topics.
In developing and acting with information and communication technology capability, students:

Students apply technical knowledge and skills to select, use and troubleshoot appropriate digital technologies when working through the General ICT Capabilities. Students understand how to use technology and which technological tools to use when investigating, creating and communicating.
Students apply technical knowledge and skills to efficiently and securely manage and maintain digital data. In developing and acting with information and communication technology capability, students:

GarageBand is a useful tool for the classroom, students are able to produce an audio track or ringtone to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of subject content. Producing an audio is no simple task, it does take time and ability to get everything the way you want it. The production process may take away from the main purpose of the audio, therefore it is important to be clear on the expectation and requirements for the task. The benefits of using GarageBand in the classroom creates flexibility and creativity, it gives students the freedom to be creative and have fun demonstrating their understanding through a method that they understand. Students can use GarageBand to create an audio, explain how to solve an equation or the order of the planets in the solar system. The audio tools could then be used as a teacher resource for your own classroom teaching.
ICT Capabilities
Your challenge is to produce an audio track that could be used in your classroom to assist in student learning.
An audio track is a simple way of demonstrating sounds or providing knowledge to students. Sometimes a video can be time consuming, an audio track is a simple way to present your knowledge to the students in an easy format. Students are able to learn at their own pace, as well as learn the content several times over. You may want to provide the audio track to the students, for them to produce the visual track. This would encourage students to listen to the audio track several times whilst also using visual cues to trigger their memory of the content.
iMovie is a useful tool for the classroom, students are able to produce a video to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of subject content. Producing a video is no simple task, it does take time and ability to get everything the way you want it. The production process may take away from the main purpose of the video, therefore it is important to be clear on the expectation and requirements for the task. Students are able to learn how to create an iMovie on an iPad.
This resource will assist you in creating a slideshow in iMovie. This is a very basic tutorial and can be implemented very easily for Primary or Secondary students.
ICT Capabilities
This resource will assist you in learning how to download online content to enhance your video. Students may like to use a section of a YouTube clip and analyse in their own words. I would discourage students from using the whole YouTube clip they had downloaded, as they would need to be aware of Intellectual Property and Copyright ownership. For educational purposes, in Australia, you are allowed to use 10% or 1 chapter of copyrighted material. However, please review for updated changes or laws in your state/Country.
ICT Capabilities
This resource will assist you in learning how to use a green screen on a video. There are various apps available online, however, i have demonstrated two apps in this tutorial, Green screen by do ink and Animator. These apps can be found on the App store. I currently teach my year 9 students how to use these apps on their iPad and most find the tools easy to use, however, some knowledge and skills are required to complete at a high standard.

Your challenge is to produce a video as a learning tool for your classroom.
A video can be a great learning tool to use within the classroom. Students are able to learn content visually at school and at home. There may be a situation when a student is absent from school, providing students with a video can ease the burden on the teacher, whilst also allowing students to catchup on missed content. At times, students need extra assistance within the classroom, the video can be replayed multiple times to cater for different learning levels and to assist students that require additional instructions to the teacher’s classroom delivery.
Google Sites are a handy tool to use in the classroom. Teachers are able to display information and documentation in a graphical representation to gain student attention. The Google site is associated with the teachers Google account and can be shared to various groups of people.
Resources
Google Sites: IntroductionYour challenge is to create your own class Google site.
Teaching a class and sharing resources can become much simpler when Google is
involved. Setting up a Google site shares additional resources with your class, and
saves time and printing. Students are able to access resources 24/7, despite being away
from school, or if handouts are lost or damaged they can be easily replaced. Storing
work is even easier with Google Drive. Students are able to create, distribute, submit,
grade and return assignments without the need for printing. Complete the following
checklist to complete the challenge.
This course invites students to learn how to use various ICT tools such as iMovie, GarageBand, Microsoft Word and learning management systems. The purpose of this course is to assist Australian teachers, both Primary and Secondary, to link technology in their core subject area. Technology is increasingly becoming a vital skills for majority of workplaces. Students need to learn technology, therefore, as teachers, we need to support our students in their learning.
