Section 1: Introduction

Welcome!!! I am so excited to have you as a part of this course and witness your journey from turning your idea into a real business. Remember you can always post in the discussion and I will get back to you as fast as I can! I have created an action list for you so that you can stay on top of everything to make sure you don't stray, and we really make this happen.

NOTE: Download the action list from downloadable materials.

Throughout this course there are a lot of downloadable materials, including sections that have both a video and a downloadable file. Don't forget to get these! It will show you the video but you may miss the content, so to make it easier I have marked every video that has additional downloadable content with an asterisk ( * ) so you can recognise it.

Also included in the course are several templates that you can edit yourself. Due to being unable to upload edited files to Udemy, these can be downloaded directly from the link attached to each relevant lecture via my website.

Just before we get started I wanted to share some of my biggest tips for entrepreneurs that I have learned throughout my businesses.

Section 2: Your Business Idea

In the first lecture I'm going to de-bunk a common myth behind business ideas. I'll tell you the reality and what you can do about it!

Learn about what makes an idea great, and how you can come up with business ideas that can change the world.

You've got an idea, but how do you make a great company? How do you innovate and change the entire space? This is what entrepreneurs do - they find a better way. Learn about what separates the greats from the mediocre businesses, and learn from Simon Sinek why some companies are industry leaders year after year.

SIMON SINEK: The Golden Circle

Regardless of the idea or product, validating it is absolutely critical. Failing to do so could potentially cost you tens of thousands of dollars and countless time. Here you'll learn how you avoid this mistake and make sure your idea is a good one before continuing.

Once we've gone through the other lectures it's time to really simplify your idea down into it's absolute core. This will be the foundation for moving forward.

Clearly write down your idea and your elevator pitch. If there's anything you need to change with your idea, now is the time to do it! The next section is the business model, so it's most effective to have a clear understanding of your general idea.

We've reached the end of the section, which means it's time to write down everything you need to do. This course is all about action and practicality so don't skip this!

Section 3: Creating the Business Model.

This is an introduction to a lean canvas, which clearly outlines all the key areas of your business. This is your one page business model. The areas are outlined, and then filled in throughout the rest of the section. I also outline a common misconception with business plans that might take a weight off your shoulders!

The most important part of the lean canvas and also your business, is the key problems and solutions. Here we outline the core solutions you are providing.

Now it's time to define who your key customers will be. In this lecture you'll learn how to figure this out, and I've also attached a document about creating user personas which will help you identify and forecast user behaviour.

Here you will discover what costs are associated with your business. In the lean canvas you will get a macro view of the main, general costs and then when you download the budget template we can go into a more in-depth, micro view of your expenses. The budget is important to finish because we refer to it later!

How does your business make money? There may be more than one way, so here we talk about revenue streams and different methods of generating income.

Now that you have the revenue model we need to decide if it makes sense as a business. You'll learn about the two key metrics: CAC and LTV. Don't forget to get the downloadable material!

3 pages

Here we outline your competitors and do some research into their businesses so you can understand their market position, and how you can differentiate yourself. There is always competition regardless of what anyone says, so don't skip this section!

Learn about a UVP (Unique Value Proposition) and your unfair advantages against competitors. This will give you a better understanding of how you're going to take on larger competing companies.

How do you measure success? How do you know if you're doing well? What targets are you meant to hit? This is where you'll figure this out.

IMPORTANT! Learn how to avoid one of the most common mistakes that leads companies to failure!

Here you will learn about the different channels you will use to reach your customers. This is a brief introduction into marketing which is the topic of section five!

We've reached the end of the section, which means it's time to write down everything you need to do. This course is all about action and practicality so don't skip this!

Section 4: Legal

Welcome to section four! Now, legal may not be the most exciting part of the business but it's still very important. Learn why, and what we will go over in this section.

3 pages

IMPORTANT: Learn about the different legal structures and how you're going to set up your company.

This will vary depending on your location, but it's a compulsory part of any business.

2 pages

Learn about copyrights, trademarks and patents, the differences between them and what is required for your scenario. I also include another myth about patents.

Learn about privacy policies, if you need one and how to create one. This is particularly important for apps and tech companies.

Learn about terms and conditions, if you need one and how to create one. Not compulsory, but also important for apps and tech companies.

What other legal requirements are there? Here I will outline the main ones that you'll need to take a look at before we move onto the fun stuff... MARKETING!

Section 5: Marketing

Welcome to MARKETING! This is the fun stuff! In this first lecture you'll learn about the different types of marketing, how you're going to attract your key customers and get your name out there!

One of the most useful and cost effective marketing tactics that I myself use all the time.

Another easy, effective and cheap method of marketing that you can use to get a large reach!

7 pages
IMPORTANT: Social media is arguably the most important platform when it comes to marketing in the age that we live in. Learn about the largest platforms and the most critical thing when it comes to success on social media.

Now that you know about the importance of social media, it's time to decide on the key platforms for you to use. Feel free to post in the course discussion about which ones you're using and why!

IMPORTANT: Putting all of the channels together to figure out how you are going to gain your customers, as well as getting a deeper understanding into the market, your product and more.

What does it mean when something goes 'viral'? How can you do it? Should you do it? Learn all this and more!

Building the right team is critical to your success, so you'll ;earn about how to find the key people and build the ultimate group, as well some things to look out for.

IMPORTANT: How to avoid getting ripped off and steer things your way in business. This is something I learned only through experience, so hopefully I can save you time and money!

What is an MVP? Here you'll learn just that, as well as how to make it and how you can bring it to market. The document includes real life examples as well as the different types of MVPs you can create, so you can make yours!

Here we create milestones and goals for your businesses is critical so you can measure success, know when to pivot and stay on track! Learn how to make yours, and then add them to the downloadable list!
