Explore how vocal psychology blends self acceptance, healing, and self actualization with technique to overcome emotional blocks, freeing the body for performance on stage, recordings, or open mics.
Vocal psychology presents a mindset for singing and performing with freedom and emotional connection. Emotions drive technique, so mastering the mind enables authentic expression and healing for performer and audience.
Singing engages mind, body, and soul, and empowering thoughts create a resonant, warm, intentional voice while self-limiting beliefs weaken muscles.
Identify common self-limiting beliefs in singers, understand their protective function, and learn how learned habits, stories, fears, and excuses create obstacles to growth.
Address how a blocked throat creates a lump or tight feeling when singing and hinders self-expression, linking the throat chakra to voice and a workbook meditation.
Explore jaw tension as a sign of blocked throat and repressed emotions, and learn to express feelings and reframe beliefs to release mouth tension while singing.
Open the chest and solar plexus outward while singing. Shyness or anxiety tightens the chest; viewing the audience as friends relaxes the upper back and opens the heart chakra.
Learn how the core acts as trust in singing, how anxiety and lack of core engagement affect focus, and how mental states influence chest solar plexus and vocal performance.
Face your fears by guiding an inner dialogue with blocked parts of your system, acknowledging beliefs, and negotiating productive performance plans—supported by a coach or trusted friend, or solo meditation.
Turn negative self-talk into powerful turnarounds by writing a list of self-limiting beliefs and replacing them with positive mantras, practiced daily for 30 days to boost resonance and mood.
Create a new belief system by listing desired beliefs and, for 30 days, looking for proof in your singing and performance that supports them.
Develop your coping toolbox by forgiving yourself on bad days, committing to feeling better, and collecting strategies that change your state—from hiking and meditation to singing and workouts.
Craft a concrete vision statement for your ideal life as a vocalist and person, answering guiding questions to map a near-term roadmap, listen to your intuition, and pursue fearless learning.
Celebrate the deep work, remove tension, and open up for emotion and connection with your audience. Prepare for the next chapter on emotion and connection with your audience.
Learn to transform emotions that create tension into conscious, expressive energy, enabling more memorable performances that move audiences.
Explore how to connect emotion to voice by identifying the song's story and the feelings it evokes. Stretch those emotional ranges to move listeners and create a powerful emotional experience.
Develop rapport and engage your audience by mastering tonality, body language, and authentic expression; practice linking lyrics to meaning and primal sounds for powerful delivery.
Project your emotion onto the audience to build a two-way connection through eye contact, openness, and brave vulnerability that can create magical, memorable performances.
Explore how songs can surface overwhelming memories and trauma, and learn to channel those feelings into healing or song at your own pace, sharing only what you’re ready to face.
Celebrate your progress and unleash your voice for a powerful performance. Embrace your emotions, which resonate with the audience and deepen the connection you share.
Explore how a strong voice and emotion can launch a professional singing career, navigate competition, and raise market value to be taken more seriously as an artist.
Identify imposter syndrome in singing and build confidence by documenting achievements and accepting compliments. Persist through growth and practice to establish yourself as a legitimate singer.
Learn to brand yourself as an artist by highlighting your unique voice, tone, and persona, curating songs, and embracing branding elements that reflect who you are.
Create an on-stage experience that invites the audience to escape daily life by joining your personal world, defining what you stand for and the evolving journey.
Negotiate stage jitters by setting intentions and imagining your ideal outcome, detailing the event with energy, interactions, and how you handle mistakes to stay confident.
Use anchors to evoke a singing state by pairing triggers with a complete facial and vocal setup—jaw drop, soft palate lift, tongue energy, and relaxed larynx.
Create a short pre-performance routine that visualizes the outcome, uses anchors and triggers, and combines neck rolls, breathing, and a quick vocal warm-up to sharpen focus and confidence.
Move with intention on stage, using space and confident motion to match the song’s rhythm. Breathe from the belly, engage the core, and express emotion through gestures and eye contact.
Navigate auditions with calm nerves, choose the right song, master breathing and core engagement, and project charisma by speaking your truth and sharing your genuine love for singing.
Prepare for studio recordings by memorizing lyrics and melody, knowing the song structure, and analyzing your takes to stay comfortable in the booth and satisfy producers.
Listen to your recording to assess the feel and emotion, identify magic moments and rhythmic grooves, and refine with honest retakes to move listeners and partner effectively with your producer.
Channel excellence by channeling an admired artist and using anchors to boost belting and vocal technique, while recognizing that comparison steals joy; your reality is malleable and you are enough.
Align body, mind, and soul to unlock your full potential and emotional expressiveness. Learn practical tools and strategies to focus on progress, enjoy the journey, and keep improving.
Explore how embracing a creative life reveals no real ceiling by switching things up and growing. Follow progress over perfection as you keep improving your skills.
Quantify your current vocal resources in the wheel of resources, identify gaps in pitch, breathing, and nerves, and plan concrete steps to improve performance and confidence.
Record your vocal practice and performances, analyze what to improve, and target three to five things with objective, kind self-review and practical worksheets.
Evaluate feedback from others by considering the source, intentions, and relevance to your end goal. Embrace constructive input to improve technique, performance, and creative decisions.

Hi darlings!
My name is Maru, and I'm going to teach you how to sing, perform & think like a professional artist, and how to set yourself up for a successful singing career.
I started my career as a psychologist in the Netherlands, and quickly realized I wanted to follow my passion for music. Long story short, I really did not know how to sing or how to perform at all, I was far from a natural singer. The one thing I had was the sheer determination to learn.
I’d love to share with you how I went from an ‘ok singer’ to consistently getting the most wonderful praise for my vocals, hearing my songs on the radio, getting signed as a singer/songwriter for Sony/ATV, and most importantly: singing in front of large & appreciative audiences all over the world and actually ENJOYING it instead of feeling...embarrassed.
Here’s what you can expect from this course:
Section 1 addresses all the possible obstacles you may face, from feeling physically blocked to any self-limiting beliefs and negative self-talk you may experience. ANY issue is solvable with the right tools, the right technique and the right mindset!
Section 2 offers an amazing way to lead from emotion when you sing. This is a GUARANTEED way to win fans and deeply move your audience.
Section 3 delves deeper into what it means to be a professional artist. Having a great voice is amazing, but only the beginning if you want to make singing your career! We will go over some crucial elements that separate the amateurs from the pro’s.
Section 4 focuses in on ways to continuously improve your voice, your performance and yourself. Progress, not perfection is the goal!
Please note: this course does not offer singing exercises! We focus on building a brand, a style and a success mindset. Please check my course on Voice Technique for the technical part of singing.
My former and current students are now releasing songs professionally, doing regular live gigs, are getting private auditions on talent shows such as ‘The Voice’ & ‘America’s Got Talent’, and are confident singers on stage and in the studio. I've been very fortunate to sing professionally and get the most exciting opportunities, after genuinely thinking I did not have a chance... and now YOU can learn how to be a professional artist.
Set yourself up for success by considering these tricks and ideas that took me years to accumulate!
Rooting for you,
Maru
