I started my first business when I was 14. I was a big skateboarder, so I figured out how to buy skateboard parts from California manufacturers, put them together, and sell the completed boards at a profit. This got me the best gear for free and it fueled my appetite for business. By the time I graduated from high school, I had built a moneymaking contracting business that employed 5 people.
Now almost 40 years later, I have been involved in the creation of dozens of businesses. Several of them grew into very successful public companies. Other failed, even with great business plans and investor capital. When I worked in the investment banking business, I analyzed and consulted for businesses in almost every industry. I have held CEO and CFO titles and have led sales, marketing, and operations. In between working on a happy marriage and raising 6 children, I got my MBA from a “Top 20" business school (go Carolina!). I am a “real life" Christian, with a commitment to help the “flourishing" of family, business, and my local community.
