Tip 1: Do NOT fill your slide with text.

Regardless of which software you are using; Microsoft PowerPoint, Apples Keynote, Prezi, etc. this is one of the first basic rules in presenting. DO NOT FILL YOUR SLIDE WITH TEXT and then just read the text to the audience. Why even be there? You should just hand them the materials and save everyone time. Keep text to a minimum. Have you ever seen a presenter turn to the screen and read it verbatim? Not cool my friend, not cool.

Which is better? A or B? Now, of course, you could use A in some cases but generally you would use B and have A memorized!

Tip 2: Always, always check for spelling mistakes.

Correct spelling is pretty important when you are presenting to an audience of 1 or 1000. I know we can't all be perfect and stuff happens and you overlook something but 'try' to have a colleague, friend or family member review your presentation. They will look at it with fresh eyes. I cannot tell you how many times I have reviewed my own work and missed a GLARING mistake. As the saying goes "you can't see the forest through the trees.". Have a 3rd party check it!

In PowerPoint click on Review > Spelling & Grammar.

I pay for a grammatical checker called Grammerly which isn't 100% accurate but it does make me think about what I have written and allows me time to review again! It corrects up to 10 times as many mistakes as other word processors and it has a Microsoft plug in!

There are some basic rules to using fonts. You want your audience to see them!

28 at a minimum but I tend to use at least 32. You also want to use a font that the eye and brain likes. That means easy to read, nothing fancy, no scripts. Something like Arial or Verdana.
