Section 2: The Knead

There is a need for teachers who want to see lifechange in their students. Your enthusiam and skill can have a longterm effect! Lecture is boring. True learning happens when knowledge makes a difference in how people live thier lives. Good teaching should take information and apply it to make a change in the learner.

Section 3: From Menu to Dinner

Start with the end. Start with a goal and decide how to get there.

  • Identify the learning objective.
  • Determine how you will measure that the objective is reached.
  • Plan learning activities to reach the objective.

Lesson objectives are what you want students to know and do. Objectives need to be simple, specific, and measureable. Narrow it down to the basics. A good lesson objective is the foundation of a good lesson.


Prezi activity: This is an exercise for you to practice determining what is a good and bad lesson objective. Good or Bad, you choose!

Section 4: The Appetizer

The introductory activity, the hook, the ice breaker, or the warm-up. There are 4 functions of a good appetizer:

  3. Sets a goal
  4. Transitions to the lesson

Dan DeHass, Owner of Lifechange Learning

As the founder of Lifechange Learning, I have been a teacher most of my adult life, in various contexts from aquatics instructor and coach to Sunday school teacher to corporate trainer to Director of Online Education.

My experience in teaching and training includes coaching swimming and soccer at the age group and college level. I have taught courses in churches, YMCA’s, and college. I have taught in various settings and cultures, even teaching overseas, educating leaders and students through an interpreter. I was involved in corporate training, establishing a training department for OSHA safety education and skill acquisition. I have educated church leaders on how to teach, guided professors in online education and trained students in teaching skills. I developed an online education department for higher education and worked with business and college leaders in educational technology and online education.
