The Holy Yoga 101 course is a great way to learn the basics of yoga asanas or postures, breath work, and meditation. The course is set up with four main workshops taught through verbal and visual ques. Starting with the Holy Yoga Workshop #1 take the time that you need to feel confident in your understanding of the postures. Beginners may take a week or more on one workshop video, whereas experienced practitioners may take less time. Go at your own rate of learning. When you are ready progress to the next workshop video.

Section 1: Introduction to Holy Yoga

Holy Yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to bring people closer to Jesus through meditation on scripture, worship music, and yoga poses. Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and all our strength (Mark 12:30).

Class Overview

In today's society we are constantly on the go. We need to find the time to “Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10) Holy Yoga's intention is to give people the time to slow down and really meditate on God while developing a personal relationship with Him. Classes begin with focus on our God-given breath. (Genesis 1:30; 2:7) The instructor then sets the intention of the class with Scripture reading, and leads the class through yoga postures. The class ends in a final resting pose with prayer and meditation.

  • Through Holy Yoga you can balance your nervous system, while energizing and relaxing your body. For the true benefits of yoga to take place, both sides of the brain need to be worked out. Standing poses are really good for rebalancing as our bodies tend to rely on the stronger and more dominant sides.
