Curriculum

Section 1: Introduction to HDR Panoramas
01:03

Welcome to the HDR Panorama Course! In this course you will learn everything you need to take, create and edit HDR photos and panoramas photos. I'll take you through every step of the way and by the end, you'll easily be able to reproduce everything taught! Enjoy!

02:28

HDR stands for high dynamic range and is created by usually taking at least three photos at different exposures/shutter speeds of the same scene. This creates a bright, medium and dark photo which is then merged into one photo known as an HDR. This allows for a dynamic range of light which brings out the darkest darks and the brightest highlights in an image. This type of detail and range of luminosity can only be seen by creating an HDR.

panorama is an image with a horizontal (or vertical) elongated field of view. This is also known as wide format photography. A panorama is created by stitching multiple photos (or HDRs) together.

01:05

Creating HDR Panoramas is relatively easy and you do not need much!

  • You will need a digital camera (point & shoot, DLSR, phone, drone, etc,.) to take your photos with.
  • You will need a software such as Adobe Lightroom CC to merge and stitch your photos together.
  • You will need a tripod to create steady, seamless photos (or a gimbal or very steady hand).

Other than that, you just need some creativity and a good eye to find great scenes to photograph.

Section 2: Taking the Photos
01:42

In this lecture you will learn how to take a panorama. You take the photos of a panorama by moving along a scene with your camera, while also overlapping about 20-50% of the previous image. Overlapping helps software such as Adobe Lightroom CC stitch the photos together.

02:05

This lecture shows a live demonstration of how to take your photos with a DSLR camera (or a point & shoot). You'll learn to capture the photos by using the auto exposure bracketing (AEB) feature on many cameras. You'll also see how to move along the scene while overlapping so we can later merge and stitch the photos together.

02:15

This lecture shows a live demonstration of how to take your photos with a camera phone (specifically an iPhone 7). You'll learn how use the HDR button since we are not able create our own HDRs with a phone. You'll learn to move along the scene while overlapping so we can later merge and stitch the photos together. You will also see how to take a vertical panorama.

02:07

This lecture shows a live demonstration of how to take your photos with a drone. You'll learn to capture the photos by using the auto exposure bracketing (AEB) feature on many cameras. You'll also see how to move along the scene while overlapping so we can later merge and stitch the photos together.

Section 3: Creating the Panorama
07:42

In this lecture, you will learn how to take your multiple exposure shots and merge them into an HDR using Adobe Lightroom CC. If you only took single exposure shots or already have your HDR photos, then you can skip this step. Remember, creating your own HDRs produces the best results - so try taking photos at multiple exposures and then merging them into HDRs manually.

08:21

In this lecture, you will learn how to stitch your panoramas together, either by using HDR photos or normal (non-HDR) photos. You will learn to use Adobe Lightroom CC to stitch your photos into a panorama. This is where all your hard work pays off and when everything comes together!

08:35

In this lecture you will learn how to take your panoramas to the next level by editing in Adobe Lightroom CC. Your panoramas already will look great naturally, but if you want to bring out the vividness, colors and detail - a little bit of editing will go a long way.

06:10

In this lecture you will learn how to take your panoramas to the next level by editing in Adobe Lightroom CC. Your panoramas already will look great naturally, but if you want to bring out the vividness, colors and detail - a little bit of editing will go a long way.
