Like most parents, all I want it is for my child to be happy, know he is loved and grow up to believe in himself. Helping your child do that isn’t always easy and some children find being loved and believing in themselves very hard, particularly if they had a traumatic start in life or experienced traumatic events as they grew up. When it became clear that ‘traditional’ parenting techniques weren’t working with my son I went searching for other options and that’s when I came across Non-Violent Resistance or NVR. It’s an approach to parenting that empowers the parent and supports them in creating a deep connective bond with their child. It does not focus on forcing the child to change but on changing the way the parent interacts with the child to bring about change. The approach has changed our family life and this course is designed to help you take the first steps to having both a happier child and happier parents, whatever your family set up.
The course focuses on how to show your child that you love them unconditionally and enables you to start creating a strong bond. You’ll learn the theory that underpins the approach, how to start making changes straight away and tips and ideas you can use. The NVR approach works with children of all ages and evidence shows that persistent use can result in positive change.
It works for me and the many parents I work with, so why not give it a try.
Sarah is a single adoptive parent who, through necessity, went looking for a different way to parent her son. The 'traditional' approaches didn't work and she when came across, and started using, the NVR approach she saw what a difference it made to her relationship with her son and his behaviour. She became passionate about this approach and trained to become an NVR Practitioner. Sarah now coaches parents in this way of connective parenting. The approach works for all families.
Having started running face to face workshops Sarah realised that some parents weren't able to access the support they needed and attend face to face sessions, so she designed online courses and now helps families from all over the UK to change their family circumstances for the better and build strong connected relationships.
