This course contains over 35 lectures and 1.5 hours of content! It is designed for you if you experience “guilt” and “shame” in your life. Section #2 – “The Linguistic Foundations Of Guilt” – Linguistically, the emotion “guilt” has two different meanings. One is the legal side of having to “pay a debt” either to society or to an individual. This is a transgression of a law. The second and probably more familiar meaning is that of a “moral sin or transgression”. This is probably the more difficult one to work with because our responses to this are entirely subjective and can be self-destructive.

Section #3 – “The Linguistic Foundations Of Shame” – An exciting exploration of various linguistic roots of the emotion of “shame”. What other emotions are related to “shame”? And are there any associated bodily sensations or transformations?

As a coach, I work with a couple of models of body-emotions-language to ensure that my clients understand the comprehensive way that the body works in conjunction with the linguistic and emotional components of the human experience.

When we take a look at the word “guilt” we find that it has roots in Old English with two different meanings. One meaning is that of a “moral transgression” or “sin” and another is to “pay for debt”. This understanding will help us to focus on the meaning that is most relevant to the human experience.

As you explore the emotions of guilt in following lectures, keep in mind the various words that correspond to the emotion of guilt and notice which ones have a stronger resonance with you.

Do you know what has been helpful for me in exploring emotions? Working with their opposites! In the previous lecture, I found 42 synonyms for the word guilt. And in a similar fashion, I discovered another 22 words that can function as antonyms to guilt! Once again, notice which of these words resonate with you.

Section 3: The Linguistic Foundations Of Shame

The Old English, “scamu” and the Old Norse "kinnroði" had examples of “shame” that meant different things. One related to the loss of esteem and the other to a physical discoloration of the body! It’s incredible the various physiological reactions to emotions. Understanding how “shame” began and its relationships to physiology will create greater understanding for further explorations.

The emotion of curiosity will help you to build a list of similar and related emotions to shame. Once again, a quick glance through an online thesaurus netted me 40+ words! The invitation is to explore situations that cause shame in your life with other possible interpretations and understanding.

Acupressure Points were defined in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). They work because they connect your skin with some of the internal organs of the body. By massaging the points, you convey the signals from the skin to the internal organs, which leads to a natural healing process.

The Acupressure Point Ear-13 is especially effective to improve Concentration. The Point is at the bottom on the edge of the inner auricle.

Massage the Point on the left ear with circular movements clockwise and counterclockwise. The longer you massage the point, the better result you will achieve.

Now, find the Point Hou xi on the right hand and and repeat the massage.
