Growth hacking has been defined many ways. I liked this definition the best. Growth hacking is a marketing technique used by many startups which uses creativity and analytical thinking to gain more exposure or sales or whatever your goal is. It's all about being creative and finding ways to use tools out there to help you reach your goals.
We are going to be using these social networks to create actions to interact with others to achieve our goals.
These social networks give us access to a very large amount of people as well as tools to initiate contact and make connections with them. If you don't know how to use these networks for marketing, you could end up spending hours just talking with people and not directing them to your website. I have felt the pain and difficulty of launching a brand new website and trying to get people to check it out.
You will learn in this course techniques like
I wanted to give a course that had you guys immediatley interacting with the social networks and building your followings. The more people we can contact the better. The best way to learn growth hacking is by doing it and that is what we are going to do.
There are many different definitions of growth hacking, but here is an all around one It is a marketing technique used by many startups which uses creativity and analytical thinking to gain more exposure or sales or whatever your goal is. Growth hacking is about being creative and finding ways to use tools out there to help you reach your goals. Often many of these tools are free and often you use them in ways that they were not exactly meant to be used for.
About.me is a network of mostly work professionals that allows you to create a sweet looking profile. Here is a link to the website Aboutme The profile is to be used as a simple vcard or basic overview of who you are and what you do.

Affordable learning that you can use.
Like I said earlier its like a door bell ring. In this case we are going to create an action that will send an email to someone. There are a few things that could happen on their end they could ignore the email view the email and respond view the email and check out your profile I will say this a lot through the course and its important to remember not to take any response personally.
It is also very important to realize this is a number game and quantity is very important. You want to contact as many people as possible. You can create a metrix if you like. Say you contact 100 people and 1 responded back. That is a 1% response rate. Now that you know this is a number game, it is important to get good at recognizing not to waste too much time on one single person. It may sound harsh, but you just don’t have the time. If a response confuses you move on, if there is a negative comment, move on.
When you recieve responses back from the compliments that you sent out, go to the users profile page and click email me. Send them a message that asks them if they have any interest in whatever you are trying to achieve. Here is an example.
Thanks for the compliment John! Any interest in my online SEO class?
If you like you can add a p.s in there will some flattering comment.
Go to reddit and create an account. They will not ask you to verify your email address. Find a subreddit that works as a great demographic as the website you are trying to send people to. Find a question that you can answer with a link to your website. There are different types of search filters you can use. I would stick to hot and new because they get seen more.
Now that you found a topic, you can post your first comment. Post a reply on the very top comment. Make sure you post something that is relevant and do not place a link in there. Wait at least a day and come back and try to post a link. Be careful there are moderators that keep track of all the comments that are posted. Log out to see if your comment was posted. You comment will always be posted while you are logged in. That is why the silent ip ban is so effective
Linkedin is a very large social network and is geared toward business professionals. The first is the update feed. You can post updates in your feed like facebook, that get seen by your connections. The second action we are going to use is the ability to connnect with others.
You can post updates in your feed like facebook, that get seen by your connections. Go to your home page and use the status update widget to see how many people your updates have reached. By attaching an image to your updates, they will be seen by many more people. Take it a step further and add an image that is a pure text advertisement. That way you can get a message across to many of your connections.
Go to your home page and on the right hand side you will see a "people you may know" seciton. Click the link and go to the area. Start clicking connect under the image of each person and add as many as you liike. You will only be allowed 3000 connect requests. After you send the connects you will receive emails of people accepting your connects. Contact these people after you have connected with them asking them if they would like to check out your website.
Don't forget to setup your profile before sending any connects, so people can easily know what you do. Add a link to your class right underneith your name and place your twitter handle in there as well.
Twitter has been the most powerful growth hacking tool for me. We can tweet whatever we like and you can send direct messages to anyone that follows you. Direct messages really work wtih reaching out to people. Building a following can be an extremly powerful marketing tool and increase your visitors as well as sales. The follow action allows us to initiate contact.
Brand new twitter accounts have follow limits placed on them. You can not follow more then 100 a day or your account will be banned. This will slow us down tremendously and we need to find an older account, so you don't have to worry about this. Ask a friend or search around.
You can always change the
There are very strict rules for following and unfollowing. Here they are
Here is the process that we are going to use
Find a business that is similar with what your website is about and view the list of their followers. Use this list to start following your 850. Repeat everyday till the list is done or it gets to the point that your browser is acting too slow.
After you 850 follows a day people will follow you back. Send them a direct message. This follow back is very important and do not overlook this step. Send them a message like
Thanks for the follow John! Any interest in my online growth hacking class?
Wait for the response. If they are interested, let them know you will send the a link in a tweet.
Tweet everyday. As your followers list grows you will start to reach more people. Be creative with your tweets and give useful advice or information. Do not use your tweets for mindless status updates. The goal is to have people look out for your tweets because they are so helpful. Tweet images from your phone to gain more exposure to a tweet.
Think about the time of day you are tweeting and don't start with someones handle because the tweet will only be seen by them.
Use the justunfollow tool to quickly add or remove followers. Click all following to view your followers. Click copy followers to add more followers. Grab the twitter handle of a person that has followers that you are going after.
The theme of our growth hacking course is to find a way that we can initiate contact with many people very quickly. Social networks are great for allowing us to do this and I encourage you to apply this to many more then just the ones we went over.
Remeber to not spend to much time on any one person. Once you find an email that is converting stick with it. Take note of what is working and what is not.
