Section 1: Introduction and Course files

Welcome to this course on Green Screen Keying techinques and special effects, please down load the course files to follow along with the course tutorials.

Section 2: Whats green screen and keying???

In this lesson I will show you my set up as far as a green screen is concerned, this is the same set up I used for the course tutorials and show how with very little equipment (a green screen a wall and a light source) you can do some really cool stuff!!!

Good lighting is key to creating a good key in after effects, also remember if your putting this into a scene make sure your lighting is set up the same way the shot is!!!

Section 3: Tutorial 1 Keyying and Lightning effect

A quick look at the projects and files we will use during the tutorials :)

In this lesson we jump straight in and set up our initial key.

Final tweaks to our key, we then use this as a trackmatt for our original imported footage.

Special effect in some cases can be quite complex how ever during this lesson I will show you how to use built in effect from after effects to create cool looking lightening.

In order to make our Lightening follow our hand movements we need to use After Effects built in motion tracker, lets do it!

Lightening casts light so we need to think it would also cast light onto our subject, so lets do it!

Lets finish off our tutorial and export out to quicktime format.

Well done for completing this lesson, lets move straight onto our next project.

Section 4: TUTORIAL 2 - Creating Demon Eyes in After Effects

Now you have finished the last tutorial lets now speed it up and work at speed on keying out this footage.

This lesson includes:

  1. Importing the footage
  2. Keying at speed

Lets add our Backplates.

After Effects has another program associated with it called Mocha we use this to track shape and positional data from footage we can then use this to accuratly track movement in our scene.

Lets now add demon eyes using the tracking data captured using Mocha.

Nearly there lets finish up our Demon eyes clip

Well done for following along and completing the two tutorials, now go out or gather clips and have a play!
