The mission of the Foreign Policy Association today, as it has been throughout its 96-year history, is to serve as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues. Through its balanced, nonpartisan programs and publications, the FPA encourages citizens to participate in the foreign policy process.

Jeffrey S. Morton, a professor of Political Science and Fellow at the Foreign Policy Association, received his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1995. The author of three books and numerous journal articles, Dr. Morton teaches in the Department of Political Science at Florida Atlantic University. A designated Master Teacher, 2004 University Researcher of the Year and 2012 College Distinguished Teacher of the Year, professor Morton offers undergraduate instruction in the fields of international law, diplomacy and American foreign policy. In 2012, Jeffrey Morton was the recipient of the Foreign Policy Association Medal.

Professor of International Relations

Jeffrey S. Morton is Professor of International Relations and a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Association in New York City. Dr. Morton began his college studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he majored in Political Science. He received his Master's degree from Rutgers University in 1991, specializing in the causes of war. Professor Morton completed his Ph. D. at the University of South Carolina in 1995, where he specialized in international law with a concentration in U.S. foreign policy. Additionally, Dr. Morton completed the International Law Commission Summer Training Program at the European Headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

The author of three books, numerous journal articles and book chapters, Professor Morton has published on issues ranging from the legality of interventions and weapons of war to the United Nations, Israeli security and U.S. foreign policy. Dr. Morton has lectured nationally and internationally on matters relating to U.S. foreign policy.

In 2012, Dr. Morton was awarded the prestigious Foreign Policy Association Medal.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Jeffrey Morton is married to Florence, a native of France.
