Do you ever feel that you might like to get your message out to the wider world using video, but that video is just too hard to get done?
Are you finding that the amount of engagement you get with social media does not repay your investment in time, energy and money?
Are you attracted to putting your message out there in an authentic and easy way using video, but worried about looking like an idiot when doing so?
THIS IS THE COURSE FOR YOU.
"Paul's excitement for Facebook Live and what it means as a documentary film maker, and us video creators is infectious. He shares what to expect in the course and with no fluff had me FB live streaming within the hour."
The ability to do Live video on Facebook marks a step change in the potential of the platform for business and communication.
It's truly powerful, and something that anyone remotely interested in conveying a message to others authentically, rapidly and widely should jump on and start to use as soon as possible.
"The class has far surpassed my expectations. First of all, Paul emphasizes and models naturalness and authenticity in his own presentations. He makes it look easy and explains how it can be. His approach is to encourage us to wade into the shallow end of the pool and play there as long as it takes to get ready to go a little further into the water. He provides a private FB group where students can practice and experiment in shallow water with others who are also learning."
The mechanics of setting up a Facebook Live are astonishingly simple. Have a smartphone/tablet, a Wifi connection and a Facebook account? You can be Live within 3 minutes from now.
Do a normal post, press the red video camera icon, click the Live icon, set a title for your post and you're off to the races,
What to say? And how to say it? And why will it resonate with your audience anyway?
That's what this course - better termed a training in fact (see below) is all about.
This is unparalleled value, because 'Go Live' will get you great RESULTS, providing you follow the training and exercises.
This “Go Live Facebook Video” course is excellent. Paul presents the lessons within a Facebook video and is an engaging presenter who really knows his stuff. I learned how to connect with my viewers by communicating in a natural, authentic style. Preparation and practice is super important and I would call his technique “controlled spontaneity”.

Here's the whole point of this course - a million miles away from pedantic steps that, given the technology, are intuitive. This course is about TRAINING you to do Live the right way. It's about the way YOU come across.
The first exercise to get you on the right track
This module shows you how to do a Facebook Live post step by step. Illustrated on an iPad - your phone may show slightly different icons and positioning, but the process will be identical.
Android differs a little from IOS when going Live.
Though I don't personally use an Android device, I found this screen-share tutorial on YouTube that seems to be clear:
A run through the setup, structure and style of this course/training.
An exercise to get you ready.
This lecture explains the essence of going Live on Facebook or YouTube
This exercise takes you through the steps to join the Facebook group associated with this training.

Done for Udemy, to help instructors shoot their videos more effectively: though this video was recorded rather than Live, it shows how effective an iPad can be to communicate handheld for a fairly long presentation. The video also shows some tips on how to move and speak at the same time with a camera while doing a 'Live'.
This video is actually featured by Udemy in their own Instructors' video course. Recorded rather than Live, it shows how you can demo something while holding the tablet/smartphone in one hand! I was under a very strict time limit, which explains the way in which I shot this. The main glitch is that I'm not always looking into the lens..lesson learned! :)
It does show some of the gear I use, including the invaluable Rode SmartLav+ lavelier microphone, plus give a tip on how to avoid popping sounds on the microphone.
Effective and creative storytelling is an essential part of success in many walks of life - and fun when you do it right, because you feel the 'flow'.
Film and video techniques and visual storytelling can add much to your overall creative output, and be highly satisfying and impactful arts in their own right.
The techniques I teach, I use daily as a professional documentary film director and author.
In my courses, you'll get insights, strategies and working methods that I've developed over 20+ years while making films for the world's top broadcasters (BBC, PBS, ARTE etc). These days, I also make film trailers and corporate films.
My teaching style is to guide you through the processes that matter - explaining why they matter - in a personal, 'fireside' fashion.
You also get direct access to me through the Discussion area of each course. This means that any challenges or questions you have can be resolved directly.
I'm very open to feedback, therefore please feel free to feed ideas for lectures and courses to me and I'll do my very best to accommodate.
