Description

This course is for singers of all levels. This course will teach you the foundations of great singing. The course explains in very easy terms how the voice and your body work together to produce a great singing voice. This course will also teach you how to understand any problems you may have with your singing and give you an understanding so that you can fix the problem.

Every great singer knows these core principles to singing and every great singer can correct any issues that may arises while performing, this is because they have set up a great foundation to their singing voice by learning all that I will teach you in this course.

Lessons are provided in video format backed up by audio lessons to master the information learnt in that video lesson.

I have also provided a simple ear training course for you to download to do anytime.

The course can be done at your own pace. After teaching for a lot of years I found that this course takes an average time of two months (depending on how often you study it).

In this course we teach you the foundation to singing and this is done by starting you out with an understanding of what is required of yourself to sing. This will teach you all areas that you will need to work on when you're practicing.

Fundations start with how and why we practice scales and ear training. So many people do not understand the correct way of doing scales training for the voice but we explain it. Ear training is the one part of training that can most help a singer and it is never given the importance that it deserves. Here you will learn why the statement "If you can't hear the note you can't sing the note" has become a mantra at my studios for well over ten years. Next we teach you your breath support, how it works and the correct way to use it. We take away all the over complicated talk and give you a full understanding of breath control so that you can improve your singing straight away.  We break your voice down into four parts so that you can understand what part of your voice you are using be that chest, middle or mixed, head or falsetto. This allows you to find the correct placement to produce the right sound (tone) for your voice and your song.

We teach you how rhythm is kept with your body so that you can begin to master your timing. Great singers have great timing.

You will learn where tension in your body can harm your voice and how to rid yourself of that tension to relax your voice.

You will learn that we all sing on the vowel. This one lesson can change everything. By understanding how to sing on the vowel a singer starts to understanding what they are doing when they are singing a word. This understanding can release their voice to sing more naturally.

If you take this course be prepared to learn to sing because you will have no excuses.

Let me leave you with something that I tell all my singers from the beginners through to my singers who have preformed on The Voice, Xfactor and some of the best stages around the world. "Building a singing voice is like building a house. You must have a great stable foundation to put on the roof of a house. In singing you must have a great stable foundation to discover your high killer notes and to be able to expand your vocal range".

Great singers have great foundations. It's time for you to be a great singer.

Welcome to your new voice.

Francis

Preview 06:40

After this lesson you will be able to understand which part of your voice you are using or are wanting to use when singing. We have one voice but as a singer we will break it down into 4 sections (chest, middle or mixed, head & falsetto). I will provide you with examples of them all so that you will be able to understand them & used them correctly.

Please start your scale training with these 3 simple scales. Pay attention to when your voice is in chest, middle or mixed, head or falsetto.

NOTE : After you have watched this lesson please take time to go & listen to your favourite singers so that you can spend time recognising which voice they are using. Also spend some time trying out the 4 voices so that you get a better understanding of them before proceeding on to the next lesson.

I would like you to practise your breath control by singing the simple songs you have chosen for this course.

**Please make sure the song you choose is very simple so that you can concentrate on controlling your breath.

NOTE : On all scales start where your voice is comfortable & finish before you start to strain.

Breath Control
22:00

Here I explain how to do scales along with the importance of practising scales.

Scales improve your ear (how well you hear music), your timing (how well you stay in time with the music) and your breath control.

I also explain why ear training is a must if you really want to be a great singer.

I have added two ear training lessons for you to download & use on your computer or phone.

Remember if you can't hear the notes you can't sing the notes.

**Please practise your ear training every day - it will improve you more than you could ever believe.

NOTE : On all scales start where your voice is comfortable & finish before you start to strain.

How & Why we do Scales & Ear Training

This is a simple lesson to learn the difference between nasal and nasality so that you can correct yourself when needed.

Singing on the vowel is what all singers do even if they don't realise that they are doing it.

Once you have completed this lesson you will find that you will improve quickly because you will have learnt how to use singing on the vowel to enhance your vocal control.

Your singing will become smoother and more enjoyable.

Flat tongue technique is what great singers use to allow their voice to come out in the correct way. If you improve your tongue's ability to stay flat while singing on the vowel you will find that your voice will be easier to control and have more agility.

**Please practise looking in a mirror so that you can monitor your tongue position. Keep doing your ear training.

NOTE : On all scales start where your voice is comfortable & finish before you start to strain. Also keep practising with your simple songs. We will advance the songs later in the course.

This lesson will help you to control your larynx which will aid you in singing high notes.

After the lesson keep trying to feel what it is like to have a low larynx and repeat that feeling.

Here is the lesson that will lead you into great singing.

You will learn how to keep an open throat which is vital if you want to be a great singer.

This is a lesson from the advanced course but I had to put it in this course so that students who decide not to take the next and final advanced course will still get to understand open throat. Also the lesson will prepare any student who is ready to start the advanced course as it prepares them for taking it to the ultimate level.

NOTE : On all scales start where your voice is comfortable & finish before you start to strain. If you feel you are improved enough to try a more difficult song go ahead. If not try going back over the videos and work extra hard at your weaknesses.

Open Throat

In this video we will wrap up the course with some tips.

We will also discuss where your singing level should be upon completion of this course.

Also we talk about ways to keep improving your voice.

Professional Vocal Coach

My music career started at the age of 16 when I performed my first concert. I started as a singer/guitarist in a 3 piece band. Over the years I have toured the world performing a wide range of music over many years. I have an audio engineers degree which I have used to record music and to engineer music in live venues. I have appeared on many recordings as well as writing and performing music for TV and short films.

I have spent 34 years performing, writing and teaching music. I trained for 8 years to become a vocal coach (singing teacher) and have been crafting my vocal teaching skills for nearly 20 years. I have been blessed to have had singing students travel all over the world performing as well as on TV (The Voice, Xfactor and more).

Over my many years of teaching I have refined my technique so that I can provide learning for everyone no matter what level they are at. My simple to understand teaching style has been so successful that I have been able to teach students from USA, England, China, Philippines, South Africa, Israel, Germany, Sweden, Brazil just to name a few. My techniques are so easy to relate to that I have had success teaching students in many languages from many different back grounds such as  English, Mandarin, Hebrew, Portuguese, Italian and many, many more.

I have a passion for my students to learn to sing beyond what they have dreamed of. My passion has driven me to push my students to incredible levels. I don't waste time teaching techniques that don't work. I focus on core principles which I teach in a way that is easy to understand and easy to monitor. I love to teach students so that they can keep improving and refining their vocal performance every day.
