What happens to the adult woman who was raised without her father - possibly due to a lack of physical or emotional presence or a combination thereof?

What happens to the adult man whose early maternal relationship was somehow not intact, or was dysfunctional, or perceived as unfulfilling?

Motherlessness and fatherlessness frequently depends not on the death of the parent, but on the fact that the parent of the opposite gender is not there for the child in the way that is necessary for emotional, psychological, spiritual, and in some cases, even physical development to take place in a healthy fashion. Therefore, due to this lack of solid and cohesive parenting – which sometimes may occur even when the parent is doing their best - a dysfunctional mindset, behavior, or defense mechanism may evolve in the personality of the growing boy or girl.

Sometimes a father's physical presence may form part of the household, yet he may not be available for his daughter in the way that she hopes for as she searches his face in vain for a clue to her own identity; sometimes a mother believes she is doing her utmost to raise her son with love and attention, yet he feels as though he never received the love and support he so desperately sought from her as a child; as though he had been short-changed in the affection department.

Sometimes the parent is not actually present, due to divorce, abandonment, illness, or death; sometimes the parent is negligent, uncaring, or even abusive: in all these instances, the child suffers, and pays for it in his or her adult relationships … until he or she recognizes this and begins to work on resolving it. This course explores these issues, their recognition, and possible resolution.

Who is the target audience?

  • Your mother was either absent or somehow unavailable when you were a child

Because of my work for over 25 years with clients from nearly 30 countries and all walks of life, teaching and helping them to find greater inner well-being, peace & joy in their lives, I am so very thrilled and honored to now be able to present Udemy students with much of the same in this easily accessible on-line course format, even if we're not sitting across from each other on two sofas in my office.

My work is in private practice as an integral (holistic) psychotherapist and life coach, clinical hypnotherapist, relationship coach, dream worker, EFT practitioner, and professional speaker. I also do past life regression work.

My first book Rewiring the Soul: Finding the Possible Self, was published in 2011, followed by my next three books: The Tao of Spiritual Partnership in 2012, The Power of Your Heart: Loving the Self in 2013, and Emotional Unavailability & Neediness: Two Sides of the Same Coin in 2014, all of which are available globally via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and all fine online booksellers in print and e-book format. Rewiring the Soul was also published in German (Deine Seele und Du) in 2015 and in Spanish (Reconectar con el Alma) in 2016.

From here in southern Spain, I broadcast a live weekly show from 2003 - 2011, now available as archived audio files on my Advanced Personal Therapy website.

I work with clients locally in person and internationally via phone or SKYPE (in English, Spanish, and German) to move them towards greater personal, professional, and relationship success with an integral and human potential raising approach to life. See the site under my name Gabriella Kortsch for more information.

My clients and I work on the resolution of many problems related to the stresses of modern life in careers, relationships, sexuality, parents, children, health, goals, acculturation, spirituality, and life in general. More than anything else, I focus with my clients on sharing with them what I consider most important of all:  assuming absolute and total responsibility for the self.

In 2003 I participated in a symposium on human development at Harvard University in Boston and was galvanized in so many ways due to what the key note speaker there was discussing from an empirical point of view - something that the metaphysical world had already known for so long: everything we think, feel, say and do has an effect on our cells and our very DNA. I thought to myself then that we finally had something in hand for all those who used to reject so much simply because there had been no empirical proof.

I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, where I also lectured for four years on a diversity of subjects in the psychology department. I'm also certified as a clinical hypnotherapist and have worked with abused children for the Guardian ad Litem program with the State of Florida, as well as with at risk adolescents (substance abuse, anger management, children of alcoholics, abused children, alternative life styles, dysfunctional families, etc.) through the Changing Lives Program with FIU. I have also worked extensively with terminal AIDS and cancer patients in hospice care in Mexico, USA, and Spain, and have been effective in bereavement counseling.

For the past 34 years I've studied a variety of clinical therapies and alternative healing modalities, including advanced psycho-energetic techniques, and I always attempt to maintain my toolbox well stocked with up-to-date information and techniques. I also studied Liberal Arts at the University of Waterloo in Canada, and Sociology & Political Science at the Complutense University in Madrid.

Born in Germany, raised in Canada and Switzerland, I also lived extensively in Mexico, Spain and the USA. I have three wonderful sons that make me so proud that I can hardly contain myself, and two beautiful grandchildren.

Long interested in Jungian analytic psychology, integral psychology, and dream interpretation, I have studied these together with mythology, compared religions, symbolism and related fields since 1969. In my private practice in Mexico, my clinical work in the USA, and my practice here in Marbella, both with individuals and groups, in my work with adults, adolescents and children, I strongly emphasize the holistic or integral (physical, psycho-emotional, and spiritual) human being.

My series of 12 workshops "The Conscious Journey Within” is offered locally and elsewhere by request.

Sign up for my cutting-edge monthly newsletter in English, Spanish or German, or browse through the articles my Advanced Personal Therapy website with well over 100 articles (no cost) about life, love, pain, consciousness, personal transformation and growth, or read more than 1000 posts on my blog Rewiring the Soul about similar subjects. I also have a blog in Spanish (Reconectar con el Alma) and another in German (Deine Seele und Du).
