Making money is very important in just about any business endeavor, and with events it is no different. You must examine the possible revenue streams that might work for the kind of business you are promoting, and make sure that they will meet your financial needs. You can make money from events by charging for attendance, selling merchandise, having sponsors and advertisers, having the venue pay you if people spend money there and it can be a revenue stream for the venue, and by up-selling the people in attendance to a product or a service that you or a partner of yours offers. Additional ways to make money are listed in this tutorial of our event management and planning course.

Ways to generate revenue from your events
09:45

In this tutorial of our event management course you will learn how to set the price for your events, and how to decide whether they should be paid or free. The free model is sometimes called the freemium business model. It can be very effective if you can sell other products or services to the people in attendance, or generate enough attendance to make it worthwhile for sponsors to advertise. If you do set a price to attend the event, this tutorial also helps you decide on a specific price that may be optimal. Of course, you will have to run your own experiments, but you will find many tips on how to do that in this tutorial. There is also a third pricing strategy which is the pay what you choose strategy in which you set the attendance price to be free, but imply that some payment is highly encouraged, and that each person is free to decide what price they are willing to pay.

In this part of the event management and marketing course you will learn what to consider before buying liability insurance for your event series. Buying liability insurance for events isn't a 100% clear decision for most events. You risk money either way. If you buy the liability insurance for events, you will lose money paying for insurance, and if you don't have liability insurance, you might lose more money if you get sued for whatever reason.
