You will learn about writing a solid thesis as well as excellent supporting sentences and conclusions to create an essay that conveys your meaning and makes the grade!

Learn about what a thesis is and how to generate a solid thesis for your essay. The thesis is the most important sentence in your entire essay - so don't miss this lecture!
What did you learn about thesis writing?
Learn about four different kinds of sentences by structure: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex. Also, learn about the "power position" and how to make your sentences effective.
At the end of the lecture you should be able to write sentences in all four styles, using a variety of sentences in your articles and essays.
Also, you will learn to read your work aloud and what to look for when doing this.
Identify each sentence as a simple, compound, complex, or compound-complex sentence.
You will learn the basics of an introductory and concluding paragraph.
Central paragraphs are the main focus. You will learn about topic sentences, transitional strategies, and "putting flesh on the bones" - providing the kind of information that essays really require.
Quiz yourself on what you learned about paragraphs.
In this lesson, you will learn the importance of having continuity - using an arrangement, transitional sentences, pronoun references, and limited repetition.
We will also look at parallel structures.

This lesson covers eleven major points which vary considerably but are all important in writing an essay that delivers your message clearly, concisely, and effectively.
These include recognizing your audience, technical language, active voice, positive statements, details & specifics, omitting needless words (padded language), faulty reference, tenses, acronyms/abbreviations, personal pronoun limits, and gender neutral language!
