Instructor Biography

Carlos Astorga, Bible, Technology and Theology

Carlos was born in Mexico City and raised in Monterrey, Mexico where by God´s grace, he came to trust Christ when he was 19 years old. Carlos has a degree in Computer Science from the School of Physics and Mathematics of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, in Monterrey, México. He worked as a software engineer for 17 years and has served in diverse ministry roles since 1992. In 2000, he moved to Dallas to pursue his degree in Historical Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary which he obtained in 2005. He was ordained for the Gospel ministry in 2006 at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas where he served as an associate pastor of Hispanic ministries from 2004 to 2009. He has ministered as a teacher of the Bible, Church history and theology in the US, México, Central America, and Spain. Carlos enjoys reading, thinking, and learning, particularly about astronomy, theology, philosophy, technology and science. He also enjoys football and has been a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since he was seven years old when the Cowboys beat the Broncos in Super Bowl XII. Carlos lives in Denver, Colorado were he currently serves as a Technical Writer and Editor at Sacra Script Ministries.


David Mendez (Fellow Lecturer)

David earned his Masters in Theological Studies from the University of Dallas. In addition, David has a passion for teaching and contributing in any way possible to the kingdom of God. he especially wants to contribute towards theologically educating the country's (U.S.) ever growing hispanic population.

Having had an early passion for Theology and Apologetics, he has worked under Dr. Norman Geisler as well as contributed with his son, Dr. David Geisler, to develop some of the material for what was later to be a book by the title of Conversational Evangelism. David is an Information Systems Coordinator in education and loves all things technology related. He is married to Vanessa and together they have a beautiful daughter named Giselle.  It was at a Focus on the Family event in south Texas twenty years ago that he first heard of the words "theism," "apologetics," and "worldviews" that eventually led him attend Southern Evangelical Seminary and eventually visit Francis Schaeffer's L'Abri in Switzerland.
