Drawing and painting a human figure has always been a difficult but gratifying challenge for artists of all levels. Nudes have been the subject of interest for ages.
Since centuries, artists have treated human body as a work of art by God Himself. Ancient sculptures and artworks from India to Europe have worshiped the nude form.
Understanding the nude is relevant in today's art as well, even for drawing clothed people!
In this course, we will learn:
1. Basic proportions, body types, bones and joints
2. Capturing the movement
3. Understanding the female face
4. Doing a finished sketch of a female nude - back
5. Doing finished sketches of female nude - front
6. Doing an oil painting of a female nude.
Let's understand the proportions of a typical female body. Then Going beyond clothes and even skin, we will explore how the bones and joints affect the movement of the body.
In this lesson, we will learn to quickly capture the rhythm and movement of human body, which will help us in drawing quick sketches.
We will learn how the face is mapped out, how the eyes, nose and lips measure against each other, and how we can eliminate the common mistakes in drawing faces.
In this lesson, we will sketch several female nude studies from front. I will show you how to do this using 2 media, brush pens and pencils. However, you may use any sketching medium to sketch these.
We will learn to paint a female nude using oil colors on canvas. You may use oil colors, as I have done, or acrylic colors to get the same effect. I will share tips for both. Painting is a totally different ball game than sketching, and we will explore how it differs from sketching in this lesson.
