Instructor Biography

Bucky Roberts , Computer Programmer and Developer

My name is Bucky Roberts, and I am a computer programmer and web developer.

I was first introduced to technology at the age of 13 when my family purchased their first computer. I instantly became fascinated with computing and began programming shortly after. After I graduated high school, I moved down to North Carolina to attend college for Information Technology with concentration in Network Security, but later switch to Web Development. While in school, I began making computer related tutorials for my YouTube channel “thenewboston". It quickly became one of the most popular computer/technology related channels on YouTube, and currently has close to 900,000 subscribers and over 200 million views.

As for my personal life, I usually spend my free time watching hockey, working on small robotics projects, kayaking with my friends, or working on my social network. I love being part of such an awesome community and enjoy being around people who are so eager to learn and help others. I am looking forward to being a part of Udemy, not only as an instructor but as a student as well.

    Awesome

I have tried reading books on MySQL many times, and have never been able to complete them. Too confusing. This course was great, I feel like I have a good grasp of MySQL now. Can't wait for the next video.

Course appears abandoned by the Instructor

While some of the materials are okay there are many questions over 3 months old not answered by the instructor. It suggests he has relegated this course to his trash bin.

    Great course

I learned the basics I needed, very interesting instruction. I would take more of Bucky's classes.

    Great intro to MySQL

Lectures are well-structured, nicely explained and funny. It's a great intro to MySQL. Thanks!

This course delivers on its promise of teaching students the basics of MySQL Database and SQL language. It definitely goes beyond what would be expected of a non-DBA in a business environment. If you master the material in this course you will be light years ahead of your peers taking other beginner courses. The best part is that Bucky goes beyond just writing SQL queries but also goes into how to use SQL to manipulate data and make calculations. He also covers how to setup a MySQL database, which is really useful. The only thing the course is lacking is sufficiently large set of practice data sets and problems to hone your skills after the concepts are introduced. Nevertheless, this is still the best intro to SQL course I've come across. If you want to learn SQL just so you can query databases on the job without bugging your DBA, you can't go wrong with this course.
