Students will be able to know what a plugin is and how it interact with host application in our case Liferay.
With your java experience will have enriching experience knowing what a java standard portlet is.You will know about Liferay as one of the most popular open source portal server based on java providing a plethora of solutions for creating portal implementation which could be an intranet application, extranet application,a microsite ,a job portal and so on.
Students will come to know what are the various types of plugin are available currently, what is their influence/target area,be able to differentiate the plugins into their types.
Students will be able to identify the type of plugin to be used as best fit solution for a specific type of change that is needed.
Students will be able to understand the various JSR standards like JSR 168 and JSR 286 for plugin interoperatibility between various portal servers.
Students will be able to develop and deploy the plugins to the portal and be able to see what changes they affected on Liferay portal.
I work as a Liferay architect and have more than 12 years experience.I have been working on Liferay portal for past 4 years and have experience in architecting solutions end to end.I have exposure to Portal development , e-Commerce solutions , Microsites creation .In my free time i write blogs on not just Liferay portal but java too .Also with some idea in mind , I develop tools or plugins to realise them.
