Welcome to the course. Here is a brief introduction to why lie detection is so important. Congratulations on your quest to better lie detection.
You will have a better understanding of true lie detection. There are many myths that are debunked in this and other lectures.
You will learn the myths surrounding actual lie detection. Not one behavior is a lying behavior. You don't have to remember that, because you will here it so many times throughout this course.
You now have the lie detection basics. You now know the importance of baseline behavior and how it plays into measuring deception.

Lying is not just saying something completely untruthful, like "The sky is falling," there are several degrees of lying that you will understand after this lecture.
There are a number of reasons people lie. Most lie to get out of trouble or look better than someone else, but there are several other reasons. As you will see here.
You will learn what is a skilled liar? Maybe it is sociopaths, who lie with a goal in mind and little or no disregard for others and compulsive liars, lying out of habit. Regardless they become very good in their craft. Most of everything I am teaching you in this course are things liars use against you to get what they want.
You will learn how active listening is the most important and polite part of communication. Active listening shows the subject you are truly concentrated on the prospect’s responses and are not leading the subject into an imposing direction. Active listening asks the subject to continue participating in the conversation.
You now know how important it is that lie detection starts with rapport, which is used for establishing a baseline behavior. Baseline behavior is the reaction to a conversation under limited or no pressure. This means, while building rapport, be conscious of the prospect’s normal verbal, and nonverbal behaviors, including what they are saying and how they are saying it, like tone, pace, pitch, and volume. When lie detection is the goal, you will compare the behaviors during rapport to those exposed during your attempts to uncover a lie or hidden emotion.
After finishing this lecture, you will understand the importance of a good first impression, what goes into a first impression, and how you can fail with a first impression.
Learn how you can gain rapport by mirroring, pacing and leading the prospect to your way of thinking.
You now know the importance of silence and what it can do to an interview. You also learn how to spot response length and latency and the importance of detecting these highly probably deceptive behaviors.
There are several characteristics going into possible deceptive or stress related behaviors. This lecture supplies you will a lot of information pertaining to verbal deception.
You get a lot of statement analysis information thrown at you here. Many overlook this very key component to lie detection.
Can you a key behavior on a half of second or less? After this lecture you will have a better understanding of what to look for.
Oh that shifty smile. What does it tell us? You will learn what is behind this behavior and it's characteristics.
Is the anger real or a cover up? This lecture shows you how to decipher between the two.
You will learn how contempt is one of the most used cover-up behaviors, what to look for, and the truth behind this behavior.
You will learn basic nonverbal behavior rules, then get a more advanced lecture on the many characteristics.
Why is the face the hardest to gauge? You will learn here and the capabilities of these expressions.
You will learn the MANY behaviors associated with these regions. This area can give you some real good clues to their actual feeling.
Here, I show you what to look for with the arms and shoulders. The movements in this area are a bit complex, so we break it down.
Hand movements are complex. Look for a follow up lecture to this one as I want to make sure you get the most information regarding this region.
You will learn what words to look for and what you can do to counter this when identified.
Okay, we have spotted the cluster of behaviors in the many aspects of the conversation or interview, now is time to either let the person know you are on to them or in an interview, it is time to get the truth. Regardless of profession, taking a non confrontational approach to questioning is ideal.
You will learn the importance of an observer for the different situations you may encounter.
