Description

This course will demonstrate the process of deploying Nano Server 2016.  The installation of Nano Server is significantly different when compared to Server 2016 Standard and Datacenter editions.  Nano Server is an operating system that is approximately 500 MB in size, making it 1/20th the size of Server 2016 Desktop Experience.

This course also demonstrates the installation and management of Windows Server Core.  Server Core is an operating that has no local GUI, but can be managed locally using command-line tools.  In this course you will deploy a Server Core as a domain controller.

Server Core and Nano offer a reduced attack surface due to their smaller size and fewer running services.  This course will teach you how to deploy and manage both.

Microsoft, Cisco and Security Instructor. Author

I have been in the technology field for more than 20 years.  I have been a high performing Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) since 2000 and a Cisco Certified Systems Instructor since 2006.  I began my career in telecommunications more than 20 years ago.  Since then I have worked as a Systems Admin, Network Admin, System integrator, Solutions Architect, and CTO. My courses are not presentations that rely on slides to explain concepts.  My goal is to demonstrate every concept covered, instead or using slides that cover theory, we will use the interface to configure every setting that is discussed.  In my view, if you do not know how to complete a task that a course covered, that course was not beneficial.  I will make sure that you know how to complete each task and the various configurations for those tasks.
