Description

Want to take your Logo design to the next level??
Then this course is for you!

During this course I will show you how to create 3D Objects in this case text from a curve generated from Illustrator, We will also look at generating 3D text within Maya itself.
Finally I will show you how to add materials, set up a basic three point light system and render out using Mental ray, this course on Creating Logos - A Maya Online Course Custom Logo and Text is a must!

So Exactly what do I learn from this course?

  • Import EPS curves from Illustrator into maya and generate Geometry we can work with from it
  • Set up a scene, and keep it clean
  • Install Mental ray for rendering
  • Add material types both Maya and Mental ray materials
  • Set up a basic lighting set up
  • Create a basic animation and out put the sequence to be composited in After effects
  • Generat text directly inside of Maya
  • Extrude, add edge loops, merge vertexes and a host of other things

This course is very thorough and cover quite a lot for such a short course giving you the info fast!

Take the Creating Logos - A Maya Online Course Custom Logo and Text course today!

I hope you enjoy this course and get a lot out of it

Creating our Maya Logo
22 Lectures 02:42:50

In this course I will be showing you a quick client brief on this project also remember to download the project files!

Maya Training - The Brief
03:28

Lets begin by setting up the project in Maya.

  • Maya Training - Maya project setup
    07:07

In this lesson we will continue and add geometry to out curves.

Maya Training - Importing and setting up our curves for 3D
    04:36

Lets have a quick talk about adding geometry to our surfaces and also cleaning our scene up.

Maya Training - Working with Nurbs and keeping our scene clean
    09:17

Lets do a conversion from Nurbs to Polygons.

Maya Training - Creating Polgons from our Logo
    04:41

Its always a good idea to use the minimum ammout of polygons needed for our 3D models this keeps thing clean and fast, in this lesson we will start quading up our model.

    Remember Maya likes quads why?

    • On render Maya will triangulate our model
    • Quads can easily be split on render
    • If we dont use quads you can get unpredictable results
    • Anything with more than 4 sides is called an NGON
    • You can use triangles but be carefull!
Maya Training - Making sure we have Quads
    14:15

    Lets continu quading our logo.
Maya Training - Quading our Logo part 2
    13:45

    More on Beveling.

    Maya Training - Bevels
    08:06

On creating a smooth preview you might find a few unexpected problems lets fix them.
Maya Training - Problem Solving part 1
    05:18

Common problems are squashings/pinching these happen often where there is a sharp point in the geometry we can further refine the geo so that this is less obvious.

Maya Training - Fixing the V merging and splitting vertexes
    03:58

Correcting the N and the A

Maya Training - Fixing the N and the A
    15:55

Lets finish off our Logo corrections, whenever you create anything in 3D you will always want to make it the best it can be either by positioning edge loops, reflowing topology there is always something you can do to make it better, however its good to know when to STOP!

Maya Training - Finishing the corrections
    07:59

Here we will use some baic Maya materials and colours to our logo.

Maya Training - Giving our logo some colour
    05:19

We need to create a ground and a backdrop for our logo, so lets do it!

Maya Training - Putting our ground plane in
    03:05

Lets use the logo sent by client to get an exact colour match for our Logo.

Maya Training - Getting an exact colour match in Maya
    03:38

Loading mental ray and resizing our image doc
Maya Training - Loading mental ray and resizing our image doc
    04:44

In this lesson we will switch our materials to Mental Ray materials, as we are using mental ray to render it makes sence to use there materials (you dont have to but generally it is a better material, specially if you are rendering out layers)

Maya Training - Using Mental Ray materials
    05:46

Maya Training - Adding lights to our scene
    17:19

    Basic rendering with Mental Ray

Maya Training - Rendering from Mental Ray
    11:57

Great we finished the logo and rendered it out, I will now put the rendered clips into After Effects for you to see the final animation.

Maya Training - Lets check out the result
    02:44

So we have looked at bringing in custom curves from Illustrator EPS files, but Maya can generate text straight off the bat, check out this lesson.

This is the last lesson in this course I hope you have learnt a thing or two along the way :)
