Video Creation - Video is fast becoming the predominant medium for communicating facts and ideas quickly. Facebook is now following Youtube's lead and making user interaction revolve around video creation and promotion.
With so much video being created, how can we be sure that our video stands out above the crowd? Of course, any video we create must have the best quality content, whatever our goal or intention. The key is to engage people and keep them watching YOUR video. One way to do this is to add overlays to your video.
What Is an Overlay?
Simply put, a video overlay is an image file that can be added to any video clip so that any image you like can be displayed at the same time as the video is viewed. This course teaches the following aspects of video creation:
Students should be familiar with Windows Movie Maker, Wondershare Video Editor, or any other video editing software that allows image files to be added to the timeline as an additional channel. (The courses demonstrations use Wondershare, but the procedure is the same for all editors.)
You will be familiar with basic image editors, and in the course we will be using PhotoPos Pro, a free editor. This should be downloaded before starting the course.
Ideally, you will be growing your Youtube Channel or Facebook pages using video and looking for ways to improve your presentations.
Adding the 'Secret Sauce' to your Youtube videos. Giving your video the edge when it comes to Youtube and Google organic search. You will learn:
The complete course will take around 1.5 hours to complete, and will give students the tools need to create attractive and original videos.

|Section 2: How To Create A Transparent Overlay Image|
Although the technical aspects of the various types of image files are beyond the scope of this course, it's helpful to understand the basics about two major file types - JPG and PNG.
Almost everyone has heard of JPG, a format devised to provide excellent quality with relatively small file size, but PNG might be less known to the beginner.
One of the most interesting things about PNG is that an extra 'color' can be added to each pixel, and this can be transparent. This feature makes possible creative overlays that can be applied to video work.
PNG Image Files
It's possible to spend lot of money on an image editing tool, but this just isn't necessary. Photopos Pro is a free software that has many powerful features, including the ability to create transparent overlays in PNG format for video work.
In this video I take a look at the basic features of PhotoPos Pro

To create a custom overlay image file we need two files.
Firstly, we create a blank but transparent image which is proportioned to the ratio 16:9, so that it will fit perfectly onto a High Definition video.
Secondly, we need an existing JPG image file to embed into our blank template.

Once created, the overlay can be imported into your favorite video editor and added to the timeline.

It can be useful to add a logo to your videos. It represents a small (normally) but persistent branding that helps to make sure your service is remembered.
Alternatively, short text message or title can provide branding, and could also display your web-site address for example.
It's a great idea to create overlays that can be added to all our videos that present a logo, website url or other kind of strong branding. In this way, the message is always in front of the viewer and looks very professional.
|Section 4: BONUS - Youtube Marketing - Video Optimization Tips|
In this exciting bonus section I'm going to address some important changes you can make to your Youtube videos to enhance your chances of performing well in Youtube and Google search. This first video shows how to add a long panel to the end of your videos with click options, which stops people from moving on the to the next video!
The start point for any Youtube video marketing campaign are the keywords. Of course we need to find the right KWs, but how to use them?
We often read about video optimization with regard to keywords, title, raw video title and description, but did you know there are other things you can do BEFORE you upload that few people know about? In this video we delve into the file properties attribute of a raw video file.
Just like video, an image file used for a video thumbnail has file properties that we can edit, putting in keywords in the title and also in the comments section. It's likely that Youtube (Google) can read all information attached to any file uploaded, so it makes sense to add as much information about our subject as possible.
