Section 1: Getting Started
Shopify is a hosted e-commerce service, meaning you build your site on the service, rather than on your own host. That means, all you have to worry about is your content and your products and whether or not they sell. Shopify will worry about managing the servers and security and any other issues.
Section 2: Shop Setup
Now that you've signed up for a free 14 day trial of Shopify, you can start configuring your site. But before you do that, you have to set up your own account info, so Shopify knows who you are, where the store is located, and what you're planning to do with the online store
The Shopify Dashboard is your one stop shop for managing your store. This is where you control everything, from products to orders, to how it looks and behaves, and who can manage different parts of the store. Looking at the Dashboard, you get a clear idea of Shopify's simplicity, and also its many advanced features.
To start off, let's look at the General Settings. You find the General Settings on your Dashboard under Settings, and General. The General Settings allow you to customize the shop name and META information. Set and change to physical shop address and where your shop is located. Lets you configure standards and numbers and configure tracking through Google Analytics.
The tax settings in Shopify are found under the dashboard under Settings, and here you see general that we've edited already, and below it you have taxes. Here you can see the default settings that have been set up by Shopify.
Just like with the Tax settings, Shopify will help you set up default Shipping settings based on the location of your store. You find the Shipping settings under Settings and Shipping. You're free to keep these settings, or change them, or add to them in any way you like. Shipping is based on where your store is located, and what country and states, province, or region you're shipping to. Here it's vital that you charge enough for shipping so you don't end up loosing money as products leave your door. Before you set up shipping rates you have to set up your shipping address and this will be the address of your store.
