You’ve done a LOT of self work during this course to attract the ideal career. So, was it what you expected? Does it even feel like it is about your career? The job of your dreams is there for the taking. Your health, well-being, self-care and self-awareness are how you’ll attract it.
But what if I said that you only get the job you crave when you’re actually ready to receive it? That’s right. We need to take a very close look at your behavior and your approach to this next stage of career.
Are you struggling with what appears to be the ideal situation—holding on so tight to getting the one specific job you think you want? Or holding on too tightly to the judgement of the job you’re currently in?
Every time you get so close to the offer letter, then something happens, and it doesn’t work out? Or maybe no matter what you tell yourself, you just can’t stop judging your boss, your job, or your coworkers? This isn’t because you have bad luck—far from it. Didn’t get the job you applied for? Well, it is because it wasn’t meant for you at this time. Still frustrated at work? Opportunity still presenting it self for you to learn to shift your perception.
Remember something key here, until you start taking care of you, your perception is likely NOT going to change. You are NOT a victim to your situation, the job market, or your age for that matter (yes, I get that all the time). You are only a victim to yourself.
Now listen carefully and learn to repeat this. “I accept where I am for now, and something even better is coming toward me.” And when you’re ready, it will appear, and you WILL receive it. I know you have doubts, but the doubts often cause a repelling that tells the universe and everyone around you that you aren’t ready. Release the doubt, and anticipate the ideal!
Trust me on this, if you’re forcing something, and it makes you feel stressed just thinking about it, then it’s likely not going to happen—or if it does, you may wake up regretting it down the road. Been there, done that!
It’s literally time to release what no longer serves you, and that includes any sense of doubt that has gotten in your way up until this point about what is possible. SUSPEND DISBELIEF.
When you’re ready, the ease of attracting the ideal situation appears, and you move from striving and forcing to thriving and receiving. Where the mind goes energy flows. AND like energy attracts like energy.
There’s a difference between nerves and anxiousness aligned with doing well and wanting to grow vs. pessimism and doubt resulting in frustration creating blocks in your life. Fear usually is the instigator, and it’s such a close second to nervousness. When stress seeps into your way of being and begins to affect different areas of your life, fear is almost always at the root of that issue. What are you afraid of? What is holding you back? What is keeping you from achieving your life by design? Listening to your body and the story you’re telling to see if it needs something different, something easier, something more fulfilling is the practice we’ve gone over in this course.
What would you have to let go of in order to be in a state of trust, faith, and allowance of this process?
And how WILLING are you to try releasing those fear-based thoughts in order to step into this state of faith and anticipation? On a scale of 1-10, where do you fall?
In this final lesson, let’s go back for a second to Lesson 1. What’s your truth? Do you think you’ve found it yet? It may not come easy—but it’s worth the period of not knowing until it emerges from within. Be patient with yourself—it’s worth searching for. It’s worth it to find your truth, the truth that resonates most with you and guides you into the optimal career and life by design. Trust me. Your truth is out there. You already know it—you’ve just forgotten.
What does your body need? What is it trying to tell you?
What story are you living in? Are you willing to try a different set of words, assumptions, interpretations to attract what you want?
How likely are you to work on truly shifting your primary needs so that they are fueling you instead of draining you and causing you to stay in a stress reaction day in and day out?
What do you want in your career? YOUR TRUTH.
How’s what you’re doing getting you what you want in your career? ASK YOUR BODY. OBSERVE YOUR LANGUAGE.
If you aren’t getting what you want, are you willing to try a different way? PRACTICE BEING THE OBSERVER OF YOU. DO THE ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS. STOP, OBSERVE, UNDERSTAND and LIVE THE LEGACY YOU WANT TO LEAVE BEHIND.
Again, on a scale of 1-10, how likely are you to take this work and do something with it to attract your deepest heart’s desires?
Here’s your final activity. Take out a piece of paper, and I want you to write a letter to yourself. You’re 89 years old. You’re reflecting on your life and your career. In great detail, I want you to tell your younger self how much fun you had living in alignment with what mattered most. Describe this course as your turning point where you realized that YOU DO DESERVE to take better care of yourself and shift your way of perceiving the world for the better.
You did the work and you attracted your dream life, dream job, and dream love. You lived happily ever after and are still THRIVING today as a result. Once you realize you’re the owner of your story, there is no stopping you.
And in that same letter, give yourself pieces of advice for living a life by design you love. Find yourself an envelope and place the letter there. Address it to your future self. Seal it. Save it. And know like you know like you know it is your TRUE NORTH.
Your Career. Your Design.

Welcome to the “Your Career; Your Design” e-course! I’m Nicoa Dunne, certified lifestyle coach with 20+ years as an HR executive under my belt. I’ve consulted 100s of business leaders and top executives from Fortune 100 companies across the globe using my “Life by Design” strategy and blueprint, and there’s no more important time than now to plan the next chapter in your career.
In the beginning of the year, the entire world was turned upside down by the pandemic, resulting in the U.S. unemployment rate shooting up from 3.8 percent in February—among the lowest on record in the post-World War II era—to 13 percent in May. That rate was the era’s second highest, trailing only the level reached in April at over 14 percent.
All over the world, the pandemic caused both old and new businesses alike to close suddenly or decrease significantly in revenue. Millions, including some of my own clients, have lost their jobs and are now faced with a dilemma: What’s next?
But you know what else I’m thinking in this situation? Many of you who lost your jobs are now realizing you never enjoyed that job in the first place. Or like many of my clients over the years, maybe you’re still in your job and wish it was better and are even realizing this stay at home thing sure feels good—how can I make THIS a full time solution??
Some of you are furloughed and unemployed and wondering if this is your pivotal moment—the moment where you get to turn a new leaf for your future. And I am willing to bet some of you dislike your career so much, you wish you were among those who did lose their jobs. Am I right?!
Listen, I’ve been there. Not only with my clients but personally, when I dreaded the drive to work, when I wished I had a different boss, and even the time when I quit with no plan…
That’s why I’m so excited to have you join me for this career course where we’ll talk about the challenges, joys, uncertainty, and possibilities associated with finally taking a close look at your life and designing your career to support it. I did it, and you can, too!
Unlike other career courses that focus only on the tangible parts of landing your career such as resumes, cover letters, interview questions, etc., you and I will be diving deeper into your deepest heart’s desires and working to design them into long term goals—goals that create the foundation for a life you love, and, oh by the way, won’t dread or need a vacation from!
In this course, I’m going to give you a step-by-step on changing the way you perceive your world right now and help you shift how you think about your job so that you can find your True North in the most authentic way. I’m going to explain a concept I like to call “Life by Design,” which is all about discovering how to live the life you always wanted with the peace, contentment and satisfaction you always craved.
You may have lost all hope of finding your dream career at this stage in your life. You might think you have no idea what a dream career looks like to you, or you think to have the life you have requires compromise. But I beg to differ!
Maybe you’re one of “the lucky ones” who didn’t lose your job, but secretly you really wish you had so you could get to doing what you love. No matter where you are in your career journey, this course will help you apply the “Life by Design” principles to your career so you can find your passion and settle into that life with ease and success.
I want you to come out of this feeling like a new you, or should I say, the REAL YOU! I want you feeling like you have found your career truth and are ready to follow it wherever it takes you. This course is all about trusting the journey and trusting yourself. Let’s get that compass pointed back in the right direction. Let’s find YOUR TRUE NORTH!
But before we get too far, let’s talk about what this course is NOT. I’m not going to talk about how to get a new job here—there are plenty of free resources for that already available to you online. I’m going to focus on how you can prepare yourself to thrive in a new job or career. I’m going to help you find your truth, aligned to what really matters most to you, which will lead you to that new career, or actually, the LIFESTYLE, that you’ve been craving.
I’m also NOT going to teach you how to build a resume or write a cover letter in this course. Why? Well, let me tell you a little secret… Having a great-looking resume and a well-written cover letter is awesome—and yes, it really has the power to set you apart from the rest of the pack when it comes to your job hunt. However, no piece of paper will help you find your sweet spot in a career field or your dream job for the life you crave. No matter what you think, it isn’t your image, it’s your way of BEING that sets you apart and helps you get what you want.
So be patient with yourself and this process, because we’re going to look past the image, and with a little self-discovery and guidance, you’ll be attracting and accepting or creating the dream job you’ve been looking for all this time.
It’s an honor to be on this path with you, and remember, you deserve to get what you really want! Ready to get started?
HAPPY DESIGNING!
