In the pdf files here you can find the syllables written in English version and in a Norwegian version.
It is difficult to write the exact sound of the syllables from the different areas, because the sound of the syllables vary a lot depending on what area you are from, individual expression, and what is being yoiked.
This map of the syllables shows roughly what syllables are used where.
This video is from our vourse "The Way of the yoik" (www.yoik.online), where you will learn a few traditional yoiks. We wanted to include this video as it talks about who can yoik. Alot of non-Sami people want to yoik, and we can tell you how to do that with respect for the Sami people.
The Sami people (formerly also called lapps), are the indigenous people in Scandinavia and Russia.
