Description

Before you enroll, please WATCH the course video and READ the full course description.

In this course, we will explore the profound philosophical and ethical principles known as the Yamas, which form the first limb of the eight-fold path of Yoga as described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.

The Yamas are universal moral restraints that guide practitioners towards harmonious and ethical living. They provide a framework for cultivating a deep sense of self-awareness, compassion, and integrity in our interactions with ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Throughout this course, you will have the opportunity to engage in insightful and transformative Dharma Talks. These talks will delve into each of the five Yamas, offering a comprehensive understanding of their meaning, purpose, and practical application in our daily lives.

The Yamas we will explore in this course are:

  1. Ahimsa (non-violence): Calls us to practice compassion, non-harming, and non-violence towards all beings, including ourselves.

  2. Satya (truthfulness): Emphasizes the importance of truthfulness in all aspects of our lives.

  3. Asteya (non-stealing): Encourages us to refrain from stealing or coveting the possessions, ideas, or energy of others.

  4. Brahmacharya (moderation): Invites us to practice moderation and balance in our actions and desires, especially in the realm of sensory pleasures and sexual energy.

  5. Aparigraha (non-possessiveness): Guides us to let go of possessiveness, greed, and attachment to material things.

This course aims to deepen your understanding and embodiment of the Yamas. By integrating these ethical principles into your life, you will cultivate greater harmony, compassion, and spiritual growth on and off the yoga mat.

Join us on this transformative journey as we explore the profound teachings of the Yamas and their potential to create positive change within ourselves and the world.

An official school-issued certificate is optional for students using the course solely for Continuing Education purposes. This is at an additional cost of $55 USD. This course qualifies for 10 CE Credits.
