Writing a News Scripts

This course is designed to equip students with basic skills and techniques for writing effective and engaging news scripts for various media platforms, including television, radio, and digital media. Students will learn journalistic principles with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and objectivity, while also understanding how to craft stories that engage audiences.

The main topics include understanding news values, structuring news scripts, writing for the ear and eye, and adapting content for various formats and target audiences. Emphasis will be placed on developing clear and concise writing styles, fact-checking, and adhering to journalistic ethical standards. Through practical exercises, workshops, and real-world assignments, students will gain hands-on experience in writing scripts under tight deadlines and responding to the fast-paced nature of news production. Mater will be divided into 2 sections:

1. Hard news script: students will learn how to write hard news scripts

2. Writing soft news: students will learn how to write soft news scripts

By the end of this course, students will be able to create professional-quality news scripts, demonstrate critical thinking in selecting and presenting news, and adapt their writing to various media contexts. This course is ideal for aspiring journalists, content creators, and anyone interested in mastering the art of news writing.
