Hello,
In this lecture, we will review how a right understanding of God empowers our worship and our approach to prayer. We will then consider some songs we know that have helped us through particular seasons of difficulty or triumph in our lives and examine exactly why that was the case.
Task:
1) Do read the very short article in 'external resources'.
2) Research/analyse/evaluate a worship song/hymns lyrics.
3) Create a mind map of a powerful worship experience. You should be able to describe why it made such an impact (God will not leave you confused as to why - His desire is REVELATION that leads to your development)
Hi there,
1) Please do complete the tasks mentioned throughout and at the end of the video (these are also available in the 'downloadable materials' section).
2) Join me in worship (based on Psalm 91) - accessible in 'external resources' section. This is taken from my Youtube channel - MJDkeys.
Please take note:-
1) Do please complete the tasks set in the other videos and get in touch with me at: mjdkeys@yahoo.com .
2) Do please check out some of the books mentioned in the video. (Books mentioned: A W Tozer - Delighting in God, A W Pink - The Attributes of God, Robert Letham - Systematic Theology, J C Ryle - Holiness, Knots Untied).
3) Check out the Youtube resource (my supplementary Youtube lecture, 'P.I.N' (See Resources).
Tasks following the lecture:-
1) Reread Ecclesiastes 3 and create a list of songs that might suit a worship set relevant to those seasons.
2) Check out the Youtube link in resources!
3) Have a read of the conversation article between Eugene Paterson and Bono on the Psalms and worship music.
4) Have a read of Crosswalk.com's article on the 5 types of psalm.
This lecture explores the deep need of every christian minister to recover, restore and rejuvenate their relationship with God and allow the Holy Spirit to give birth to God-honouring worship in the local church.
Task:
Read John 14 - Pay close attention to the pericope focussing on the Holy Spirit (V 14 onward(.
This lecture explores the blessings of receiving and ministering in the Holy Spirit according to Jesus' words in John 14.
Tasks (Post-lecture):-
1) Read John 14
2) Pray according to points raised in John 14
3) Re-evaluate the structure of your church worship:
A) How does it line up with the Bible?
B) Is it real?
C) Does it reflect the culture of your church or the culture of the latest worship craze?
This lecture encourages listeners to consider sharpening their tools for worship in the sense of 'the everyday' and 'the stage'. We discuss the need for spiritual 'disciplers', musical mentors and honest friends to cause us to grow in the fulness of the potential God has released in all believers.
Task:-
1) Pray for God to highlight people who could fill those 3 roles.
2) Pray for each others development in these areas.
3) If in a group or on your own, spend some time in worship with your instrument or using your favourite worship playlist.
This lecture is a thank you for completing this Udemy course and a taster of what courses are yet to come from your facilitator, Mark Dowling.
Do please look out for more Udemy lectures from Mark Dowling.
God bless you!
Psalm 96 v 1-4: "Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Sing to the LORD, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day.
Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous deeds among all peoples.
For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods."
This course will delve deep into who God is, what His vision of local church worship should look like and provoke deeper questions into the framework, format and content of our songs and methods for leading worship.
Students will be equipped with a deeper vision of who God is and what His will for creation is. Furthermore, students will envision, develop and form their own worship leading philosophy, whilst understanding and appreciating their unique ministry methodology. Students will be encourage to consider again their ministerial foundations, and theological, philosophical and musical frameworks in praxis.
This course requires students to undertake various tasks - reading, writing, singing and creative forms of biblical prayer. This will ensure that lecture materials are more fully consolidated and applied.
Books recommended for a deeper appreciation of course content include Robert Alter's translation of the "Psalms", A W Tozer's "Delighting in God" and the "Valley of Vision Remix" by T G Melton.
Students are permitted contact with the courses tutor via Udemy's inboxing service and are encouraged to do so freely and liberally throughout the course. This is for questions, task queries and prayer requests.
