Wireless Sensor Networks (Electronics & Telecommunication)

Course Objectives:
To learn basic concepts of Wireless Sensor Networks. To be familiar with the architecture and protocols used in Wireless Sensor Networks. To provide knowledge of deployment and security issues of Wireless Sensor Networks. The course aims to build foundational understanding as well as practical insights into the working and application areas of Wireless Sensor Networks.

Course Outcomes:
On completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Explain various concepts and terminologies used in Wireless Sensor Networks.

2. Describe the importance and use of radio communication and link management in Wireless Sensor Networks.

3. Explain various wireless standards and protocols associated with Wireless Sensor Networks.

4. Recognize the importance of localization and routing techniques used in Wireless Sensor Networks.

5. Understand techniques of data aggregation and the importance of security in Wireless Sensor Networks.

6. Examine the issues involved in the design and deployment of Wireless Sensor Networks.

Additionally, students will develop problem-solving abilities to address real-world challenges in Wireless Sensor Networks implementation. They will gain exposure to different types of sensors and their integration into network systems. The course will also prepare learners for research or advanced studies in wireless communication systems, enabling them to contribute effectively to emerging technologies and smart applications involving sensor networks.
